POSITION SUMMARY

The EHSS specialist II is a development role and will support Company EHS oversight to the Neom Green Hydrogen Project. In this role, you’ll work closely with your assigned EHS Leaders, with the primary focus to support the EHS department in the development and growth of the NGHC EHS management system and safety culture. You will have opportunity to learn and be engage in multiple elements of the project. The incumbent will work closely with the NGHC EHS&S team to evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the workplace. This position will report to the Green Hydrogen Elements EHS&S Director.

NATURE & SCOPE

• To provide EHS guidance, communication, and support for work being conducted on the Neom Green Hydrogen Project construction sites, while working in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES 

• Support the implementation of the NGHC EHS Plan across all project sites
• Assist project team in identifying project safety concerns
• Participation in the NGHC EHS inspection and auditing program
• Engage in multi developmental training program to possesses sound safety knowledge in areas of Construction Safety (i.e, Excavations, Scaffolding, Working at Heights, Cranes & Mobile Equipment, Lifting safety, etc)
• Understanding and monitoring of controls of Environment, Health and Safety related risks (e.g., aspects and impacts)
• Learn element Permit To Work (PTW) processes to ensure accuracy and fully implemented at Site.
• Learn Contractor Safety Programs and how they are implemented to ensure safe work practices are reviewed, and monitored on an ongoing basis
• Ensuring EHS information is provided to the site teams when solicited
• Actively participate in safety promotion events, campaigns, competitions, & established programs
• Participate in Behaviour Based Safety Programs
• Review JSA’s and/or Method Statements developed by the Contractor or Sub-Contractor to ensure all risks are mitigated.
• Review NGHC EHS Safety Management Systems & Programs
• Attend Contractor TBT’s and provide input where applicable.
• Learn incident reporting to ensure EHS related incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions are implemented to avoid recurrence of similar incident
• Be part of incident investigations when required.
• Support the implementation of the NGHC Emergency Response Plan
• Provide indirect support to the Incident Management Team during emergency response situations.
• Participate in Emergency Response Drills & After-Action Reviews.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Bachelor Degree Minimum
• 1-3 years work experience or resent University Graduate
• Proficient with computers and MS Office - safety management system software is a bonus
• EHS related training and course completion.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Fluent in spoken Arabic

DESIRED EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Good technical skills with a systematic and thorough approach to problem solving
• Ability to work independently with excellent project management, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to become familiar with all aspects of construction methodologies that maintain safe workplace
• Ability to acquire training in areas of Construction Safety (i.e, Excavations, Scaffolding, Working at Heights, Environmental Management, Cranes & Mobile Equipment, Lifting safety, etc)
• Being a good team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
• Physically fit and able to spend a large proportion of the day on site
• Ability to work in a multifaceted / multinational organizational matrix with a variety of working relationships
• Willingness to travel and be based in remote location

MINIMUM YEARS EXPERIENCE IN SIMILAR JOB ROLE

• 1-3 years minimum experience, or recent University Graduate

SKILLS / TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AREAS:

• Good communications skills – the ability to communicate effectively both in the written and spoken word
• Ability to listen – has the ability to listen well and take in feedback from an employee perspective
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations pertaining to the specific trade or activity being managed
• Excellent organization & recordkeeping skills
• Ability to access heights via ladders or scaffolding. A significant amount of construction work takes place at heights above ground level which requires access to the work to evaluate it.
• Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in time critical situations
• Proven integrity and high personal standards of behaviour
• Ability to work in a multifaceted / multinational organizational matrix with a variety of working relationships
• Familiar with safe work practices associated with construction methodologies
