Position: PV (Photovoltaic) / Solar Technician (Electrical)
Location: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
About the Role
Role Objective: Ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar PV plants and substations, in compliance with Saudi electrical standards and HSE regulations.
Responsibilities
- Preventive and corrective maintenance of PV modules, inverters, SCBs, UPS, and transformers
- SCADA monitoring and resolution of alarms and field issues
- Operation and maintenance of switchgear and protection systems (11kV–220kV)
- IR testing and fault rectification in HT and DC cables
- Maintenance of robotic cleaning systems and sun-tracking mechanisms
- Support erection, testing, and commissioning of transformers, HT/LT panels, and cables
- Review electrical drawings and coordinate QA/QC inspections
- Lead commissioning activities per SEC and NEOM standards
- Enforce LOTO and PTW systems in line with Saudi Aramco, SEC, and NEOM HSE protocols
- Conduct safety briefings, drills, and first-aid sessions
- Maintain documentation for internal and external audits
- Supervise technical teams and ensure effective shift handovers
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for timely execution
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in solar PV operations and maintenance
- Must include experience with robotic module cleaning systems and PV tracking mechanisms
- Technical Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Valid Electrical License (preferred: transferable to Saudi Council of Engineers)
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar PV systems (installation, O&M)
- Proficiency in inverters, SCBs, UPS, transformers, and switchgear
- SCADA monitoring and troubleshooting of DC field and communication faults
- HT cable diagnostics (Hipot, Online PD, IR)
- Interpretation of electrical schematics and protection/control circuits
- Troubleshooting of CRP panels and protection systems
- Knowledge of LOTO procedures and HSE compliance
- Coordination with internal teams and vendors
- Strong documentation and reporting for audits and shift handovers
Preferred Skills
- Inventory and spare parts management
- Experience in commissioning and compliance with SOPs, WMSRA, and risk assessments
- Participation in hazard identification, toolbox talks, and safety drills
- Understanding of Saudi Electrical Code and SEC/NEOM standards
