KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform arterial punctures for ABG’s.

2. Tracheal suction and sampling of intubated patients

3. Tracheal tube, tracheostomy tube, and oral hygiene

4. Nebulizer dosing, timing, and monitoring.

5. Oxygen therapy administration, and monitoring.

6. Mechanical ventilation setting, changes, and recording.

7. Pulse Oximetry monitoring.

8. Aerosol therapy including dosing and timing.

9. Sputum collection and suction pressure adjustment.

10. Transport support of patients on mechanical ventilation.

11. Pulmonary function testing.

12. Non-invasive ventilation support and monitoring (BiPAP and CPAP)

13. First aid and basic life support

14. Airway management.

15. The following duties with no direct patient care are to be undertaken

1. Mechanical Ventilators regular check list.

2. ABG machine regular check list.

3. Nebulizer (Aero-Neb. Pro) regular check list

4. Ambu bags regular check list

5. Stored respiratory accessories regular checklist.

6. Humidifiers regular check list.

7. BiPAP regular checklist

1. Develops and co-ordinates the Quality Improvement Program within his/her area of responsibilities

2. Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions
   
   

3. Performs any other duties within the range of his / her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Chief Respiratory Therapist and/or Head of Department.

Education and Certification Requirements:

Bachelor Degree of Respiratory Therapy.
