Job Title: Data Center Medium Voltage Technician

Position Reports to: Data Center Electrical Engineer

Location: Dammam, Saudi Arabia

SUMMARY: Data Center Medium Voltage (MV) Technician operates, maintains, and repairs critical electrical distribution systems (11 kV to 33 kV) to guarantee 100% uptime. Responsibilities include maintaining switchgear, transformers, and generators, executing strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and tracking performance via CAFM.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot MV switchgear, ring main units (RMUs), circuit breakers, and protection relays.
• Perform routine maintenance on transformers, generators, and distribution cabling to prevent critical facility outages.
• Conduct specialized electrical testing such as insulation resistance, Hi-Pot, contact resistance, and relay calibration tests.
• Strictly adhere to electrical safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Respond immediately to emergency power issues, alarms, or abnormal conditions within the data center's critical power chain.
• Log all maintenance hours, observations, and parts usage into the CAFM.
• Responsible for performing daily performance monitoring of electrical equipment during walk rounds.
• Responsible for following SOPs and EOPs during preventive and corrective maintenance.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / KNOWLEDGE:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering
• Deep understanding of critical power infrastructures, including UPS systems, standby generators, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches).
• Familiarity with electrical diagnostic testing, fault analysis, and troubleshooting procedures
• Very familiar with Health & Safety guidelines and procedures, especially for operating energized or mechanical equipment.

EXPERIENCE:

• 5+ years of experience working with industrial or commercial medium/high voltage systems.
• Experience in preventive and corrective maintenance of MV equipment.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and protection schemes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work a rotational on-call shift.
• Ability to work under pressure, adaptable.
• Ability to diagnose root cause of equipment failures.
