Overview:

VEI Arabia is seeking recent graduates with a background in Environmental Sciences, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Engineering to join our team as Junior Environmental Specialists. In this entry-level role, you will support the operation and implementation of environmental remediation and treatment systems at project sites throughout Saudi Arabia. This position offers excellent hands-on training and mentorship as you develop your career in environmental remediation, with a primary focus on the Eastern Province.

Key Responsibilities:

·      Remediation Program Support: Support in-situ and ex-situ remediation programs including chemical oxidation (ISCO), chemical reduction (ISCR), and other remedial amendments under direction of senior staff

·      Technical Documentation: Review and learn from site drawings, engineering plans, remedial design documents, and permit requirements to understand site-specific programs and environmental conditions

·      Installation Support: Assist with assembly and installation of water treatment systems, chemical injection systems, and associated equipment (pumps, tanks, valves, manifolds, monitoring equipment) under the supervision of experienced technicians

·      Field Monitoring: Assist with groundwater monitoring events including collection of water levels, product levels, geochemical parameters, visual observations, and confirmatory sampling under supervision

·      Data Collection & Field Testing: Perform field tests, collect water samples, record monitoring data, and maintain accurate field records under direction of senior environmental specialists

·      System Operation & Maintenance: Assist with the operation and maintenance of treatment systems including dewatering, water treatment, and vapor mitigation systems; perform routine inspections and support preventive maintenance activities under guidance

·      Equipment Support: Assist with troubleshooting common equipment issues and support maintenance of pumps, injection lines, valves, and other system components with guidance from experienced team members

·      Equipment Mobilization: Assist with loading, unloading, and preparation of equipment and chemical amendments; support material handling and chemical inventory management

·      Safety & Compliance: Work in full compliance with VEI health and safety procedures, environmental regulations, and client requirements at all times

·      Team Collaboration: Work effectively with project managers, senior environmental specialists, contractors, and client representatives to support project success

Require Qualifications & Experience:

·      Bachelor's degree (BSc) or Master's degree (MSc) in Environmental Sciences, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent field.

·      Basic understanding of hydrogeology and groundwater flow principles

·      Basic knowledge of water chemistry and geochemical principles

·      Valid driver's license; ability to operate vehicles in Saudi Arabia

·      Ability to travel extensively within Saudi Arabia (primary focus on Eastern Province)

·      Ability to work in outdoor field conditions and lift 25 kg regularly

·      Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills on the job

·      Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

·      English language proficiency (written and verbal)

Desirable Skills & Assets:

·      Internship or field camp experience in environmental, hydrogeological, or civil engineering projects

·      Exposure to environmental remediation technologies or water treatment systems through academic coursework or projects

·      Familiarity with groundwater chemistry and geochemistry analysis

·      Interest in in-situ remediation techniques and contamination remediation

·      Experience working in field conditions or outdoor environments

·      Any environmental or safety certifications (e.g., basic First Aid)

·      Prior experience or familiarity with the Middle East region

Work Environment & Location

This position is based in Saudi Arabia with primary focus on the Eastern Province. The role involves extensive field work in various locations across Saudi Arabia. You will work in outdoor conditions on active remediation sites and at treatment system facilities. Travel across other regions of Saudi Arabia may be required.
