Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer - Civil is responsible for implementing and maintaining the project's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure all civil and structural works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, client requirements, and contractual quality standards. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in high-rise residential/commercial buildings and hospitality projects such as hotels, resorts, or mixed-use developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement project-specific QA/QC procedures, inspection plans, and quality control processes.
- Review project specifications, IFC drawings, method statements, and material submittals for compliance.
- Conduct inspections of civil, structural, and architectural works at all stages of construction.
- Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and third-party testing agencies.
- Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs), Material Inspection Requests (MIRs), and related quality documentation.
- Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and international standards.
- Identify non-conformities (NCRs), recommend corrective and preventive actions, and verify their implementation.
- Maintain quality records, inspection reports, test reports, checklists, and turnover documentation.
- Witness field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including concrete, steel reinforcement, soil, waterproofing, and finishing materials.
- Monitor concrete activities including batching, placement, curing, and testing.
- Ensure proper implementation of approved method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Conduct internal quality audits and participate in external audits by clients or certification bodies.
- Coordinate with construction, planning, MEP, and procurement teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Monitor finishing works to ensure premium quality standards expected in hospitality developments.
- Support project handover activities by preparing quality dossiers, snag lists, and close-out documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 5-10 years of QA/QC experience in construction.
- Proven experience in high-rise buildings and/or hospitality (hotel/resort) projects.
- Strong knowledge of concrete, structural, architectural, and finishing works.
- Familiarity with international construction standards and local authority requirements.
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and quality management software is an advantage.
Preferred Certifications
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor Certification.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent certification (preferred).
- CSWIP, ACI, or other relevant quality certifications are an advantage.
- Valid engineering registration/licensure as applicable.
