Working Environment

The Product Manager - Thermal Generation role covers all business lines related to Thermal Power Generation, including Heavy Oil, Gas and Hydrogen-powered plants, Open Cycle and Combined Cycle Power Plants, CHP and Cogeneration Facilities, Waste-to-Energy Plants, District Energy Systems, and associated decarbonization solutions.

The role sits within the Energy Business Line and is responsible for the successful delivery of projects throughout their lifecycle, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Engineering, Detailed Engineering, Owner's Engineering, Project Management, Site Supervision, Commissioning, Asset Management, Operations & Maintenance support, and Asset Optimization Services.

The Product Manager shall act as the focal point for Thermal Generation services within the Middle East region and coordinate closely with Tractebel's Global Thermal Power and Energy Transition practices to promote innovation, technical excellence, and sustainable growth.

Additionally, the position shall support Business Development and Sales & Proposals teams through client engagement, technical leadership during bid preparation, proposal development, and promotion of Tractebel's Thermal Generation capabilities to internal and external stakeholders.

Job Location

The position is based in UAE or Riyadh and reports to the Head of Energy & Infrastructure - Middle East.

Your Job Functions

Strategy

• Contribute to the overall business strategy of the Thermal Generation Product Line.
• Develop and implement a regional growth strategy aligned with Tractebel's global and regional objectives.
• Grow business activities by leveraging Tractebel Middle East and Global Business Line strategies.
• Identify and pursue emerging opportunities in thermal power generation, hydrogen integration, decarbonization, Waste-to-Energy, cogeneration, district energy, and carbon capture solutions.
• Develop a deep understanding of market trends, customer needs, regulatory developments, and utility sector priorities across the Middle East.
• Contribute to new business pursuits that expand the project portfolio and enhance the company's reputation.
• Establish strategic partnerships with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, technology providers, and government entities.
• Support the development of new services, solutions, and competencies to address evolving market needs.

Leadership

• Direct, oversee, and mentor the Thermal Generation team while ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures.
• Mobilize, motivate, and support teams to achieve business, operational, and project objectives.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Conduct annual performance reviews and regular goal-setting discussions with direct reports.
• Develop succession plans and competency development programs for key personnel.
• Manage direct and indirect reports and support their professional and career development.
• Promote knowledge transfer and collaboration between local, regional, and global Tractebel teams.
• Ensure effective communication channels and resource allocation across the Product Line.

Technical Expertise

• Provide technical leadership across the entire lifecycle of Thermal Generation projects.
• Maintain expertise in Thermal Power Generation technologies and associated engineering and site services.
• Possess strong understanding of:
• Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle Power Plants.
• Open Cycle Power Generation Facilities.
• CHP and Cogeneration Systems.
• Waste-to-Energy Facilities.
• District Energy Systems.
• Hydrogen-ready and Hydrogen-fired Power Generation.
• Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS).
• Thermal asset life extension and modernization programs.
• Lead project execution activities including feasibility studies, owner's engineering, detailed engineering, site supervision, commissioning, HSE studies, permitting, and technical due diligence.
• Ensure implementation of engineering best practices, lessons learned, quality requirements, and technical governance processes.
• Provide technical oversight and support for risk identification, mitigation, and management during project execution.
• Lead efforts to expand the company's knowledge base through technical development initiatives, knowledge sharing, and dissemination of best practices.
• Encourage continuous learning and professional development within the team and across Tractebel practices.

Performance and Financial Management

• Responsible for the overall technical and operational performance of the Thermal Generation Product Line.
• Accountable for annual revenue, profitability, order intake, utilization, and growth targets.
• Carry out Project Management responsibilities for selected strategic projects.
• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts and monitor performance against approved targets.
• Monitor key business performance indicators and implement corrective actions where required.
• Ensure compliance with Tractebel Ethics Policies, ISO procedures, Quality Management Systems, and Health & Safety requirements.
• Support commercial reviews, contract negotiations, and risk assessments during bid and execution phases.
• Ensure effective resource planning and optimization across the Product Line.
• Monitor project performance, budget control, invoicing, cash collection, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, project delivery, and project margins.
• Conduct regular project reviews and management meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
• Train and mentor managers and engineers to meet changing customer, business, and market requirements.

Innovation and Energy Transition

• Drive adoption of innovative technologies and engineering solutions within Thermal Generation projects.
• Support the integration of decarbonization and energy transition strategies into project development and execution.
• Promote digital engineering, digital twins, asset performance management, predictive maintenance, and advanced analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with Tractebel Global Practices to introduce emerging technologies and best practices to the regional market.
• Identify opportunities to improve sustainability, efficiency, reliability, and operational performance of thermal generation assets.

Relationship Building and Business Development

• Actively participate in the acquisition of new business opportunities and strategic pursuits.
• Support Business Development activities and ongoing tenders through technical leadership and client engagement.
• Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with utilities, government authorities, industrial clients, project developers, technology providers, and strategic partners.
• Lead technical presentations, workshops, and client engagements.
• Help define and prioritize target markets, key accounts, and go-to-market strategies.
• Contribute to expanding Tractebel's network of technical and industry experts.
• Provide leadership during proposal preparation and support Sales & Proposals teams in developing winning strategies.
• Identify opportunities for cross-selling services across Tractebel's business lines.
• Represent Tractebel at industry conferences, technical forums, and professional associations.

Your Profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Power or Energy Engineering.
• Master's Degree and/or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience within Thermal Power Generation, Utilities, Engineering Consultancy, Developer, EPC, or Owner's Engineering environments.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience.
• Proven experience in Thermal Generation project development and execution.
• Strong experience in gas-fired generation, combined cycle plants, CHP/cogeneration facilities, and Waste-to-Energy projects.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and multidisciplinary engineering delivery.
• Proven business development and client relationship management capabilities.
• Experience in the Middle East market is highly desirable.
• Professional registration (PE, CEng, PMP, or equivalent) is advantageous.
