Role Description The Trainee Engineer - Smart Buildings and Energy Efficiency role is a full-time, on-site position based in Saudi Arabia. This role involves supporting the design, deployment, and commissioning of smart building and energy efficiency solutions, including building automation systems, sensors, and control platforms. The trainee will assist senior engineers with site surveys, data collection, system configuration, testing, and documentation of projects. Daily tasks include analyzing energy usage, preparing technical reports, updating project records, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions meet performance and safety standards. The role also includes learning and applying relevant IoT, automation, and energy management tools under guidance, with opportunities for professional development and mentorship.

Qualifications

• Foundational knowledge in electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering; familiarity with building automation or control systems.
• Understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and basic power and lighting systems in commercial or industrial buildings.
• Ability to work with IoT devices, sensors, and networking fundamentals, with interest in smart buildings, AIoT, and industrial IoT applications.
• Competence in data analysis using spreadsheets or basic analytics tools, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Comfort working on-site at customer or project locations, adhering to safety standards and following structured procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree (or final-year student) in Engineering, Energy Management, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• Willingness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and receive mentorship in AIoT, smart city, and net-zero building solutions.
