Social Development Specialist
Job Summary:
The Social Development Specialist will develop and implement community development initiatives, engage local communities and partners, and support social empowerment programs to enhance quality of life and strengthen community participation in the region's development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and review of the region's social and community development strategy.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to identify community needs and social development opportunities.
- Conduct field research and social studies to understand community needs, challenges, and priorities.
- Analyze social and demographic data to support the design of effective development programs.
- Design new community initiatives and programs (empowerment, volunteering, capacity building) that improve quality of life.
- Improve community services in coordination with local partners, non-profit organizations, and relevant government entities.
- Support the enablement of the local community, including productive families and youth, to benefit from development opportunities.
- Propose creative ideas and content for community awareness campaigns in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to community events, seasons, and key regional occasions.
- Stay updated on the latest global social development practices and offer innovative solutions.
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the direct supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Sociology, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
- A master's degree in social development or Community Development is preferred.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in social development, community development, or non-profit programs.
- Experience working with local communities and non-profit sector stakeholders is an added advantage.
Skills:
- Strong analytical skills for conducting social studies and community data analysis.
- Ability to design and implement community development programs and initiatives.
- Excellent communication and engagement skills to build relationships with communities, non-profits, and stakeholders.
