Role Description

The Project Engineer will support the Building & Construction business by overseeing all aspects of code compliance and guiding clients through every stage of product development, testing, and certification, with a particular focus on passive fire protection products. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing projects end-to-end - from product sampling, witnessing testing and manufacturing processes, to preparing final certification documentation - while ensuring all deliverables are completed within the client’s budgeted timelines covering MEA region and beyond.

Essential Functions

• Conduct research on building codes and relevant product standards to ensure compliance requirements are fully understood.
• Develop product evaluation plans based on research findings and project needs.
• Assume end-to-end responsibility for assigned projects, including:
• Communicating with clients regarding building codes, test standards, test preparation, testing procedures, results, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinating product sampling, testing activities, and inspection requirements.
• Preparing and writing certification documents required to obtain approvals.
• Representing Intertek and participating in industry, technical, and standards committee meetings.

Education

• B.S. Degree in Engineering or closely related field of physical science

Experience

• Knowledge of fire testing standards, including ASTM, NFPA, UL, EN and BS standards, building design and construction, and modern construction materials.
• Knowledge of construction material characteristics and applications, manufacturing techniques, supply sources and engineering principles.
• Technical competence to effectively communicate test procedures, specifications, and results with customers while possessing skills in diplomacy conducive to working with clients through technically challenging compliance issues.
• Capability of working both individually and within a team.
• Knowledge of mock-up testing programs for curtain wall systems, overseeing full-scale laboratory performance tests including structural, air, water, and thermal cycling prior to mass fabrication.
• Knowledge of facade and architectural systems - fabrication and inline quality checks and issue facade inspection checklists.
• Comprehensive understanding of facade panel components.
