Job Summary:
The Senior Interface Engineer will be responsible for managing and coordinating interfaces between different engineering disciplines, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle. The role will ensure that design, construction, MEP, architectural, structural, and specialist works are properly coordinated and that interface issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate technical and construction interfaces between all project disciplines and stakeholders.
- Identify, track, and resolve interface issues between civil, structural, architectural, MEP, and specialist systems.
- Coordinate interfaces between main contractor, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and client representatives.
- Develop and maintain the Interface Management Plan, Interface Register, and Interface Matrix.
- Monitor interface requirements and ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned to the relevant parties.
- Lead regular interface coordination meetings and prepare minutes, action trackers, and follow-up reports.
- Review drawings, specifications, method statements, and technical documents to identify potential interface conflicts.
- Coordinate design and construction requirements to ensure smooth project execution.
- Work closely with BIM and design teams to identify clashes and coordination issues.
- Ensure that interface requirements are incorporated into construction schedules and project deliverables.
- Monitor interface-related RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, and change requests.
- Coordinate interfaces between building works and external infrastructure, utilities, roads, landscaping, and other adjacent works where applicable.
- Support project teams in resolving construction issues that involve multiple disciplines or contractors.
- Escalate critical and unresolved interface issues to the Interface Manager / Project Director.
- Maintain accurate records of interface issues, actions, responsibilities, and closure status.
- Ensure that interface activities are aligned with project specifications, approved drawings, contractual requirements, and applicable standards.
- Coordinate with commissioning and testing teams to ensure smooth system and area handovers.
- Support project handover by ensuring all interface-related requirements and outstanding issues are properly closed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8-12 years of relevant experience in construction projects.
- Strong experience in large-scale building, hospitality, mixed-use, commercial, residential, or high-rise projects.
- Previous experience in an Interface Engineer / Senior Interface Engineer / Interface Manager role is preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Experience working with main contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
