Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) Substation Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in the installation, erection, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, replacement, and SF₆ gas handling of high-voltage GIS equipment. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise working with major GIS manufacturers, including Hitachi Energy, Siemens Energy, Hyosung Heavy Industries, and HD Hyundai Electric.

The engineer will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of GIS substations through preventive and corrective maintenance activities, equipment upgrades, fault diagnosis, and adherence to international safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• GIS Installation, Erection & Commissioning
• Supervise and perform GIS equipment erection, assembly, alignment, and installation activities.
• Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning tests for GIS bays and associated equipment.
• Verify installation quality according to OEM specifications and project requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and vendors during installation and commissioning phases.

GIS Maintenance & Troubleshooting;

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on GIS equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, insulation, and control system faults.
• Conduct condition assessments and reliability evaluations of GIS assets.
• Prepare maintenance schedules and outage plans to ensure system availability.

GIS Replacement & Retrofit Works:

• Lead GIS bay extensions, equipment replacement, and retrofit projects.
• Manage replacement of circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches, CTs, VTs, bushings, and related GIS components.
• Ensure minimal outage duration and compliance with safety requirements during replacement activities.

SF₆ Gas Handling & Management:

• Perform SF₆ gas filling, topping-up, evacuation, filtration, recovery, recycling, and leak detection activities.
• Monitor gas quality parameters including moisture, purity, and decomposition products.
• Maintain SF₆ inventory records and environmental compliance documentation.
• Ensure compliance with international standards and environmental regulations related to SF₆ gas handling.

Testing & Diagnostics:

• Conduct GIS testing including:
• Insulation Resistance (IR)
• Contact Resistance Measurement (CRM)
• Timing Tests
• Partial Discharge (PD) Monitoring
• Gas Quality Analysis
• High Voltage Testing
• Functional and Interlocking Tests
• Analyze test results and recommend corrective actions.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in high-voltage GIS substations.
• Extensive practical experience with GIS equipment from:
• Hitachi Energy
• Siemens Energy
• Hyosung Heavy Industries
• HD Hyundai Electric
