Purpose Of Job:

The Floorman / Floorhand is responsible to the Assistant Driller for the work carried out on the Rig Floor and will also assist the Driller or Assistant Driller, as required.

Handles tubulars and drilling tools using drill floor equipment.

Area(s) of Responsibility:

• For the safety of himself and his fellow workers on the drill floor and in the drilling package.

• Physical condition of areas and equipment, planned inspections and relevant documentation.

Key Tasks

• Carrying out daily inspection of drilling equipment’s like tongs, slips, elevators, safety/snub lines, etc.

• Rectify or report any defects or discrepancies immediately.

• Full awareness of ongoing operations ensuring clear understanding of Driller or Asst. Driller instructions.
• Working as part of a team and to be familiar with duties and responsibilities regarding well control.
• Carrying out daily routine maintenance on drilling equipment.
• Carrying out maintenance/ repairs under a recognized permit system.

• Liaising with Driller or Asst. Driller and inform him before carrying out maintenance, repairs etc.
• Awareness at all times of hazardous situations and promoting safety awareness and instructing new crew members on the drill floor.
• Keeping the Driller informed of whereabouts at all times.
• Giving a comprehensive handover regarding ongoing duties/operations to relief at end of tour.
• Assisting in keeping all areas of the drilling package clean and tidy.
• Maintains the order, cleanliness and housekeeping on the rig floor and at the rig site.
• Maintains the drilling tools and helps the Derrickman and Assistant Driller to repair all equipment.
• Prepares drilling equipment, pipes and casings.
• Cleans, greases and paints drilling material and equipment.
• Can assist the Derrickman in the mast job.
• Screws and unscrews the drill string during tripping.
• Checks daily the condition of the drilling tools such as drilling tongs, slips, etc. according to the safety rules.
• Performs any job requested by the Assistant Driller or the Driller as long as the job is within his competence.
• Operation of the Man-lift (Mobile Elevated Work Platform)" “MEWP” is subject to training and certification.
• Assist Derrickman in this Mast and Mud Tanks
• Working on the BOP and Wellhead under supervision.
• Work on the Mud pumps.

Safety

• Safety is a line responsibility. Each individual member of the company must accept the responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area.
• Responsible for carrying his work in line with KCA DEUTAG QA&HSE policy statements.
• Must report to the Driller for all the potential hazards.
• Participate in safety meetings, drills, safety training and safety observation programme.
• Ensure that all work is carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to-work system and in compliance with Safety Procedures in force, initiates PTW as necessary within their discipline and ensures all safety precautions are carried out.

Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 years’ experience Technical Skills: Manual Handling Awareness Banksman and Slinger Awareness Basic background in rig components and drilling operations.
