Job Summary

The Senior Registrar - Family Medicine provides comprehensive, patient-centered medical care within the home healthcare setting. The role focuses on preventive, acute, and chronic care, including comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, health education, and coordination of multidisciplinary care.

The Senior Registrar plays an essential role in identifying high-risk patients, preventing complications and avoidable hospital admissions, and ensuring continuity of care through evidence-based clinical practice, personalized care plans, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

The position also supports the delivery of high-quality home healthcare services through effective use of telemedicine, health information systems, clinical governance, and patient safety practices, in compliance with Ministry of Health regulations, applicable accreditation standards, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Consultation and Clinical Case Management

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments during home visits and virtual consultations.
• Take complete patient histories and perform physical examinations within the scope of Family Medicine practice.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
• Identify high-risk patients and initiate timely interventions to prevent complications, hospital admissions, and unnecessary emergency department visits.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management, referrals, and lifestyle modifications.
• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient feedback, and health outcomes.
• Coordinate referrals and consultations with specialists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and contribute to clinical decision-making for complex patients.
• Escalate cases appropriately when consultant input or a higher level of care is required.
• Provide patient and caregiver education regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, medication adherence, and preventive care.
• Utilize telehealth and video conferencing platforms for virtual consultations, patient assessments, follow-up, and education.
• Ensure accurate, evidence-based, and timely documentation of assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.

2. Quality Assurance and Compliance

• Maintain compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, clinical governance frameworks, and accreditation standards.
• Practice according to approved clinical guidelines and organizational policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
• Maintain high standards of clinical quality, safety, professionalism, and ethical practice.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and effective home healthcare environment.
• Support compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure accurate documentation for audits and inspections.

3. Professional Development

• Participate in continuing medical education (CME), workshops, conferences, and clinical training programs.
• Participate in educational sessions, case-based discussions, and clinical teaching activities related to home healthcare.
• Share clinical knowledge and best practices with multidisciplinary team members.
• Support the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, care pathways, and educational resources.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Family Medicine, home healthcare, population health, and evidence-based clinical practice.

4. Health Information Systems (HIS) and Medical Documentation

• Utilize Health Information Systems (HIS), electronic health records, and telemedicine platforms effectively.
• Ensure complete, accurate, and timely documentation of patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up.
• Utilize clinical data and reports to monitor patient outcomes and identify care gaps.
• Participate in training related to healthcare information systems and platform enhancements.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with Ministry of Health requirements and organizational standards.

5. Patient Safety and Satisfaction

• Apply patient safety principles and clinical risk management practices across all patient interactions.
• Identify and report patient safety risks, clinical incidents, and adverse events.
• Participate in patient safety initiatives and quality improvement projects.
• Provide compassionate, ethical, and patient-centered care.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.
• Address patient concerns professionally and promptly.
• Maintain high levels of patient satisfaction through effective communication, empathy, and quality clinical care.

6. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams

• Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Promote teamwork, mutual respect, accountability, and patient-centered care.
• Facilitate effective communication regarding patient status, needs, referrals, and care plans.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case reviews.
• Coordinate timely referrals and escalation of care when required.
• Support the integration and continuity of care across the multidisciplinary home healthcare team.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Education and Professional Requirements

• Medical degree (MD, Board, or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of Residency training in Family Medicine.
• Valid registration and professional classification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).
• Classification and registration as a Family Medicine Senior Registrar.
• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in Family Medicine or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Family Medicine Senior Registrar or in a similar role, preferably in a primary care or home healthcare setting.
• Experience in population health management and value-based care approaches is preferred.
