Job Summary
The OpenText Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading the Windows Server and Apache-based environment supporting enterprise applications.
The role requires strong hands-on experience with Windows Server administration, Apache web server management, SSL certificates, application services, software upgrades, system troubleshooting, and Level 2 application support.
Key Responsibilities Windows Server Administration
- Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments supporting enterprise applications.
- Perform Windows Server maintenance, patching, configuration changes, and service management.
- Support DNS, ports, service accounts, permissions, file-system access, and application connectivity issues.
- Monitor Windows services, application services, server resources, and system availability.
Apache Web Server Administration
- Install, configure, manage, and upgrade Apache web servers.
- Perform Apache upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and post-upgrade validation.
- Configure and troubleshoot Apache services, ports, virtual hosts, redirects, proxy configurations, and application connectivity.
SSL/TLS & Application Connectivity
- Manage SSL/TLS certificates, including installation, renewal, certificate chains, and HTTPS configurations.
- Troubleshoot communication between application components, web servers, load balancers, and related services.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Review and analyze Windows Event Viewer, Apache access logs, Apache error logs, and application logs.
- Troubleshoot application availability, service startup, performance, connectivity, and server-related issues.
- Identify whether application issues are related to Windows Server, Apache, application services, configuration, connectivity, or another technical dependency.
- Restart, recover, and validate application and web services when required.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring application and infrastructure incidents.
Application Support & Maintenance
- Support application backend and frontend infrastructure from the operating system and web server perspective.
- Support application software installations, upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
- Perform pre-upgrade checks, backups, implementation activities, post-change validation, and rollback when required.
- Support production, UAT, and development environments during incidents, deployments, and maintenance activities.
Incident Management & Collaboration
- Investigate Level 2 application incidents and perform technical troubleshooting.
- Coordinate complex technical issues with internal teams and external vendors when required.
- Escalate product-level issues to the relevant vendor when necessary.
Documentation
- Maintain technical documentation, server configurations, upgrade procedures, implementation plans, rollback plans, and troubleshooting guides.
Job Requirements
Required Skills & Experience Windows Server
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration.
- Good knowledge of Windows services, Event Viewer, Task Scheduler, service accounts, permissions, and file systems.
Apache Web Server
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache HTTP Server administration.
- Experience with Apache installation, configuration, upgrade, patching, and troubleshooting.
SSL/TLS
- Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates and HTTPS configurations.
Enterprise Application Support
- Experience troubleshooting enterprise applications running on Windows and Apache-based environments.
- Ability to analyze Apache logs, Windows logs, and application logs.
- Experience supporting application installation, deployment, upgrades, and rollback procedures.
- Experience providing Level 2 support for enterprise applications and servers.
Networking & Troubleshooting
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, ports, HTTP, HTTPS, and application connectivity.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Good technical documentation and communication skills.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server administration and Apache HTTP Server administration.
Preferred
- Experience supporting enterprise web applications or document management platforms.
- Knowledge of Java-based applications.
- Experience with Apache Tomcat or similar application servers.
- Experience working with load-balanced or high-availability application environments.
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and Windows automation.
