KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Takes full responsibility for the appropriate admission, monitoring and care of patients (that is compassionate, appropriate & effective) attending his/her allocated Vascular Surgery Outpatient Clinics or presenting at the Emergency Room, admitted under the specialty or referred for opinion and management.
- Assesses patient needs, performs the normal range of vascular surgical procedures in the operating room on a routine or emergency basis and manages the postoperative care of patients.
- Responsible for investigating, diagnosing and treating the health conditions of patients by using scientific evidence to improve patient care practices.
- Responsible for prescribing and reviewing patients’ medication appropriately and timely.
- Responsible for closely monitor the medically necessary length of stay of patients.
- Writing clinical notes (including assessment and care plans) in patients’ medical records as per the hospital policy.
- Responsible for complying with appropriate blood or blood product use and antibiotic stewardship program as per hospital policy.
- Demonstrates interpersonal & communication skills that establish & maintain professional relationships with patients, families, co-workers & other members of healthcare team.
- Able to demonstrates both understanding of contexts and systems in which health care is provided and ability to apply this knowledge to improve and optimize health care.
- Able to use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate and improve patient care practices.
- Demonstrates cost-conscious care including avoiding the overuse and misuse of diagnostic tests and treatment.
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, understanding & sensitivity to diversity & responsible attitude towards other staff and patient
- Manages any assigned Resident Staff/General Practitioners allocated to the department, participating in arranging rotas and periods of leave towards the protection of the required 24-hour cover.
- As requested by the Head of Surgery, participates in the planning and budgeting cycle for the department.
- Contributes to the departmental program of continuing medical education.
- As directed by the Head of Surgery, attends appropriate meetings of the medical staff.
- Develops and co-ordinates the Quality Improvement Program within his/her area of responsibility.
- Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
- Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Surgery and/or Chief of Medical Staff.

Necessary Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Five (5) years in the specialty of Surgery with three years at consultant level in Vascular Surgery.
- Minimum of five years since acquisition of essential postgraduate qualification.
Education and Certification Requirements
Essential:
- Basic Medical Degree from a recognized accredited institution.
- Saudi Board / Fellowship Certification, or equivalent in the specialty.
- SCFHS License in Vascular Surgery as Consultant
Skills

- Academic experience in teaching and research.
- Ability to speak read and write Arabic and English.
