We’re looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer, a product-minded engineer who thrives on building reliable mobile experiences, solving complex technical challenges, and turning product ideas into high-quality features that make a real impact.

Mobile will be your primary focus, with opportunities to contribute to web frontend development when product priorities require it. You’ll work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to build, ship, and continuously improve Zid’s mobile experiences.

AI-assisted engineering is also a core part of this role. You’ll work with tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar coding agents throughout the development lifecycle, while owning the technical decisions and the final result.

What You’ll Do:

1. Mobile Development & Product Engineering

• Build and ship complex mobile features using React Native and Expo across iOS and Android.
• Turn PRDs, designs, and acceptance criteria into scalable technical solutions and production-ready software.
• Own mobile product quality from technical planning through release readiness.
• Build fast, responsive, accessible, and RTL-ready experiences for both Arabic and English users.
• Contribute to web frontend features using React and TypeScript when product priorities require it.

2. Offline, Data & Performance

• Design reliable mobile experiences that remain useful and predictable when connectivity is weak, interrupted, or unavailable.
• Implement local data models, caching, migrations, synchronization, retries, and conflict handling using SQLite, Realm Database, or similar technologies.
• Integrate REST APIs and manage asynchronous data and application state using tools such as Redux Toolkit, TanStack Query, or similar solutions.
• Debug and optimize application performance across different devices, operating systems, and network conditions.

3. Quality, Testing & Technical Ownership

• Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests using Jest, React Testing Library, Detox, or similar tools.
• Own technical decisions around mobile architecture, quality, security, and release readiness.
• Debug complex iOS, Android, network, and device-specific issues.
• Support mobile CI/CD, app releases, monitoring, and store submission processes.
• Identify technical debt and continuously improve the architecture and reliability of the mobile codebase.

4. AI-Assisted Engineering & Innovation

• Use AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools as part of your everyday engineering workflow.
• Give coding agents clear context, break work into meaningful steps, and direct them effectively across the codebase.
• Use AI tools for implementation, testing, debugging, refactoring, maintenance, and technical documentation.
• Stay current with modern mobile engineering and AI-assisted development practices.

5. Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to shape scope, feasibility, risks, and technical options.
• Lead technical discussions and explain complex engineering concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, code reviews, and written guidance.
• Own high-impact initiatives, unblock teammates, surface risks early, and improve engineering workflows.

Who We’re Looking For:

Experience:

• 3+ years of professional experience building mobile applications.
• Strong production experience with React Native and Expo.
• Proven ability to independently deliver complex mobile features from planning to production.

Skills:

• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture, app lifecycle, navigation, performance, and platform constraints.
• Experience with SQLite, Realm Database, or similar local data stores.
• Experience with state management and server data tools such as Redux Toolkit, TanStack Query, or similar.
• Experience integrating APIs and handling loading, error, empty, and offline states.
• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests.
• Experience debugging iOS and Android applications and supporting mobile releases.
• Experience with mobile CI/CD.
• Strong understanding of responsive layouts, accessibility, internationalization, and RTL interfaces.
• Active experience using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools.

Nice to Have:

• Professional experience building web frontends with React, TypeScript, Next.js, or similar frameworks.
• Experience working across both mobile and web frontend codebases.
• Experience with Swift, Kotlin, or native mobile modules.
• Experience with mobile performance, accessibility, observability, or security testing.
• Experience with background tasks, offline-first architecture, or data synchronization.
• Experience with GraphQL or event-driven data flows.
• Experience in e-commerce, point-of-sale, payments, inventory, or other commerce products.
• Contributions to open-source projects or internal tools that improve engineering workflows.
• Experience coaching engineers or leading technical initiatives.
