Job Summary

An excellent career opportunity available to a self-motivated, high-performing Senior Environmental Engineer with a proven track record seeking technical challenges in the environmental design of a wide range of technologies. The engineer would be required to utilize their significant knowledge in all areas of design from conceptual studies to detailed engineering. The engineer should have a proven track record and will be recognized for their understanding of environmental engineering in the industry.

• Prepares environmental engineering deliverables relating to regulatory compliance, air emissions and water/wastewater treatment.
• Prepares, coordinates, and reviews designs, studies, reports and proposals.
• Takes the initiative to coordinate the design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
• Knowledgeable of and performs standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight.
• Comfortable working independently with minimal direct supervision but with the self-awareness to know when to request support from others.
• Coordinates complex technical issues with other engineering departments on projects.
• Prioritize tasks and operate within a fast-paced project environment.
  
  

Major Responsibilities

• Developing environmental design basis, process flow diagrams and equipment datasheets.
• Contributing to other discipline deliverables such as P&IDs, plot plans and philosophies.
• Reviewing permit material for air and effluent emission compliance.
• Attendance of key meetings such as HAZID/ENVID, P&IDs review, HAZOP, and 3D model review and providing environmental input.
• Compiling technical lists and inventories such as emissions and effluents summaries.
• Ensuring that projects comply with state, federal, and local environmental regulations.
• Supporting engineering and other project disciplines in understanding and applying regulatory requirements, based on permits and legislation.
• Developing execution strategies and planning for project permitting.
• Ensuring that regulatory approvals are in place to support project execution.
• Willingness to undertake travel (as required) within the Middle East region.
  
  

Education And Experience Requirements

• A recognized master’s degree in environmental, chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university with a professional license or chartership in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board or professional institution.
• Experience in executing Middle Eastern projects, brownfield experience and familiarity with Aramco and Royal Commission standards and specifications is highly desirable.
• At least 10 years of environmental engineering design related experience in Petrochemical, Energy Transition or Oil & Gas industry.
• Experience in Concept, Pre-FEED and FEED projects.
• Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution.
• Understanding of typical industrial equipment air emissions sources and the combustion or process pollutants of concern.
• Comfortable with undertaking calculations such as air emissions, basic equipment sizing and water balance.
• Strong focus on quality of work whilst still achieving key deadlines.
• Familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes, including state and federal requirements.
• Working understanding of Saudi Arabian regulatory framework including environmental permitting and approvals processes.
• Excellent understanding of major project delivery, including the design process and typical project design deliverables.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills, in English - both written and spoken.
  
  

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Undertaking or managing Environmental Impact Assessments in the Middle East.
• Undertaking or managing ambient air dispersion modelling using AERMOD or similar.
• Working knowledge of BAT assessment.
• Working knowledge of USA regulatory framework including environmental permitting and approvals processes.
• Design and specification of industrial water/wastewater treatment systems.
• Developing drainage philosophy documents.
• Work within EPC industry and with large-scale project execution.
• Arabic language skills - both written and spoken.
