Position Summary
The Mathematics Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in
foundational mathematics concepts essential for success in university-level quantitative
disciplines. This position involves delivering instruction in algebra, pre-calculus, calculus,
and statistics to diverse learners preparing for study in Business, Engineering, and ICT
fields.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Delivery
- Teach Fundamentals of Algebra & Pre-Calculus and/or Applied Math
(Calculus/Statistics) courses
- Develop and deliver clear, well-organized lessons that build mathematical
competence and conceptual understanding
- Use contemporary teaching methodologies and educational technology to enhance
learning
Curriculum & Planning
- Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement of course content
and delivery
- Develop lesson plans that foster student interest and align with institutional standards
Student Support & Environment
- Create a supportive, inclusive learning environment that accommodates diverse
learning styles and encourages problem-solving
- Provide scaffolding and individualized support to help students overcome
mathematical challenges
- Support students through office hours, academic advising, and pastoral care
Assessment
- Design and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and identify
areas for additional support
- Provide constructive feedback to help students develop proficiency
Collaboration & Administration
- Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate mathematics instruction across the
foundation year
- Maintain detailed records of student progress and attendance
- Participate in department meetings and professional development activities
Essential
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a
closely related field from an accredited university
- Minimum 2 years of professional teaching experience at the university preparatory or
undergraduate level
- Strong subject matter expertise in algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus
- Fluency in English (written and oral) to support teaching in an English-medium
academic environment
Preferred
- Experience teaching mathematics in international or English-medium contexts
- Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches such as flipped classroom and
active learning
- Experience with learning management systems and online assessment tools
