Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Planning Engineer with strong background in pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication projects. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting across engineering, procurement, production, and QA/QC functions in compliance with ASME Section VIII standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop, maintain, and update detailed project master schedules using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
• Prepare baseline schedules at project kickoff covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection, and delivery milestones.
• Identify critical path activities and highlight schedule risks to management.
• Issue weekly and monthly schedule updates against baseline.

2. Fabrication Workflow Coordination

• Coordinate with Production, Engineering, QA/QC, Procurement, and NDE teams to ensure proper sequencing of activities.
• Track key fabrication stages including:
• Material receipt
• Plate cutting, rolling, fit-up
• Welding and PWHT
• NDE, hydrotest, painting, final inspection
• Ensure ASME U-Stamp / U2-Stamp inspection hold points are integrated into schedules.
• Optimize shop loading plan with Production Supervisor.

3. Progress Reporting & MIS

• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports including:
• S-curves
• Manpower histograms
• Percentage completion summaries
• Look-ahead schedules
• Maintain live project dashboard for all active jobs.

4. Client & Stakeholder Communication

• Prepare client-facing reports, schedule submissions, and recovery plans.
• Attend client progress meetings and respond to schedule-related queries.
• Coordinate all schedule-related correspondence with Project Manager.
• Ensure contractual deliverables are submitted on time.

5. Risk & Recovery Management

• Identify schedule deviations and propose recovery plans.
• Maintain schedule risk register and mitigation tracking.
• Support Extension of Time (EOT) claims with planning documentation.

6. Document Control & Compliance

• Ensure all planning documents are maintained as per QMS and ASME requirements.
• Coordinate with Document Controller for timely submission of project documentation.
• Support internal and third-party audits (including Saudi Aramco vendor audits).

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 8-10 years experience in project planning and scheduling
• Mandatory experience in pressure vessel / heat exchanger manufacturing industry
• Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes:
• Cutting, rolling, welding, PWHT, NDE, hydrotest, inspection
• Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 1 / Div. 2
• Experience in ERP-linked planning systems is an advantage
• Strong reporting skills (S-curves, EVM, manpower histograms)
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Strong client handling experience with major industrial clients (e.g., Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SIPCHEM)
• Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage)

Candidates without direct experience in pressure vessel / heat exchanger fabrication industry will not be considered, regardless of overall experience.
