About the Role

The job holder is responsible for monitoring and overseeing commercial design planning, including setting of commercial design framework , operational requirements and compliance criteria, coordinating with internal teams and external design consultants to initiate commercial design process, and monitoring commercial design progress while ensuring adherence to project timelines, and delivering compliant, efficient, and innovative commercial design.

Key Responsibilities :

Strategy and Planning

• Contribute to the development of Commercial Design business plan ensuring alignment with KSIADC strategy
• Develop the operational plan for Commercial Design Planning in line with Commercial Design business plan and Design strategic plan
• Implement plans and provide input to enable achievement of Commercial Design Planning goals that support KSIADC’S overall strategic plans

Budget Management

• Discuss Commercial Design Planning budgeting requirements with top management and provide input to the budgeting process
• Ensure effective utilization of Commercial Design Planning budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
• Ensure effective utilization of the Commercial Design Planning budget and report accurately any deviations from set budget

Commercial Design Planning

• Coordinate with Airport Master Planning and Strategy to understand key objectives and identify commercial design needs and objectives
• Review internal commercial design policies and procedures to incorporate the latest regulatory changes and evolving industry standards, ensuring relevance and applicability
• Provide guidance in adopting and tailoring global commercial design standards to KSIADC commercial designs requirements, ensuring compliance with aviation industry
• Design frameworks for commercial design development that standardize processes, minimize deviation and streamline approval workflows to meet project timelines
• Maintain comprehensive design review checklists for preliminary, detailed, and final design phases, fostering consistency and reducing rework
• Coordinate with Procurement and Supply Chain function and evaluate the proposed list of design consultants to select the best-fit option
• Check developed RFP securing all technical requirements are mentioned to proceed with tendering process
• Direct the design review meetings with related teams and external design consultants to ensure alignment of commercial project designs with operational needs and stakeholder expectations
• Ensure proper development of project schedules and use of planning tools to track milestones, optimize resource allocation, and facilitate transparent communication among project stakeholders
• Oversee the delegation of roles and responsibilities among related teams and external design consultants, ensuring clarity of accountability and efficient resource utilization throughout the project lifecycle
• Define project deliverables, such as conceptual designs, detailed technical drawings, and safety compliance reports, ensuring clarity in stakeholder expectations and regulatory adherence
• Ensure collaboration with operational teams to translate functional requirements, such as retail space allocation, dining area configuration, lounge placement, and passenger flow optimization into detailed and practical commercial design specifications
• Approve standardized design templates, specifications, and guidelines that incorporate regulatory compliance, safety standards, and modern technological advancements to ensure project consistency
• Define strategies for continuous improvement in commercial design process by staying updated on global trends for operational excellence

Commercial Design Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor the implementation of design standards and frameworks to identify gaps or areas for improvement, leveraging feedback and industry benchmarks to enhance commercial design processes
• Review project data, designs, and outputs to identify discrepancies or deviations from the approved plan and direct relevant teams to address inconsistencies promptly and prevent further errors
• Monitor the completion of key project milestones against the planned schedule to ensure on-time delivery
• Ensure the identification of bottlenecks or delays, and provide guidance on the implementation of corrective actions to ensure the commercial design progresses on schedule while keeping stakeholders informed through real-time updates
• Review highlighted complex issues to provide guidance and advise on the enhancement of the commercial design process

Policies, Processes and Procedures

• Lead the design and implementation of Commercial Design Planning policies and procedures covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high impact and achieving results effectively and efficiently
• Stay abreast of best practices to enable continuous improvement of systems, processes, and policies related to Commercial Design Planning
• Remain abreast of Commercial Design leading practice and new trends, and identify recommendations for corrective measures, updates and improvements where required

Stakeholder Management

• Establish working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
• Collect feedback from stakeholders on issues being faced and other requirements in order to identify barriers and develop action plans
• Actively gain exposure and insights to local market development, business opportunities and the existing regulatory landscape
• Attend related forums, seminars, etc. to enrich network and learn about the latest developments and opportunities

People Management

• Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talent
• Guide, mentor and support direct reports in order to execute duties according to set policies and processes
• Develop individual performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate/appraise team and provide regular feedback on performance
• Establish a high-performance working environment and promote KSIADC values

Education

• A Bachelor’s Degree in in Civil Engineering, Architecture or equivalent is required
• A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent is preferred

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in similar role or equivalent with at least 4 years of experience in a managerial position
