Network Engineer Specialist

Position Description

The Network Engineer Specialist is responsible for the design, implementation, security, monitoring, and optimization of the company's network infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, performance, and security of all network services, aligned with business requirements and industry best practices.

Key Activities

• Able to gather business requirements and be able to assess requirements for the ideal and recommended Network design and infrastructure.
• Up-to-date with the current Networking topologies, technologies, manufacturers, and service providers, to be able to come up with appropriate network capacity planning and connectivity infrastructure.
• Recommendations for Network Hardware specifications for the procurement process.
• Supervision of delivery handling, stock-keeping, delivery note acknowledgement of network equipment upon delivery of the hardware and prior to any installation.
• Direct involvement in the evaluation of Networking projects/services and service providers.
• Knowledge of Data Center facilities and hosting requirements for Servers and both Network Active and Passive Components prior and in preparation for any installations.
• Participation for Installation and Configuration Plans for Network Equipment based on the project requirements, approved design and plan, and compliance to best practices and standards.
• Carry out and go over the Installation Check List for Network configuration and installations.
• Acceptance testing for the Installation done.
• Provision of guidelines and checklist for Security and Quality Assurance.
• Participation in the Data Center Facilities and Hardware Security processes.
• Involvement in the Network Access Security process and Performance Quality Tuning.
• Participation in the Network Hardware, performance, and service enhancements.
• Involvement in the Disaster Recovery processes.
• Involvement in Network Administration and Monitoring.
• Generate network performance and security reports.
• Recommendations for recommended or required network hardware and service enhancements.
• Network Periodic maintenance procedures.
• Documentations of all Network hardware and service-related information and activities.
• Document updates on all changes applied, activities carried out.
• Application and filing of change management forms, technical documents, event logs, security and performance reports, and etc.
• Coordination with other team members or related team services for knowledge
• Training of co-team members for knowledge sharing and eventual knowledge transfers, planning, collaboration, and coordination of services.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs)
• Experience with routing & switching technologies
• Familiarity with network security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS)
• Understanding of data center infrastructure and cloud networking
• Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, etc.)
• Knowledge of disaster recovery and high availability architectures

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related fields.

Relevant certifications are preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet, Palo Alto, AWS/Azure networking)

Work Experience

Minimum 2-4 years of experience in network engineering or related roles
