Role Description The Operator - Micro Tunneling Machine role is a full-time, on-site position based in Saudi Arabia. The operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring micro tunneling machines, including setup, alignment, start-up, and shutdown activities according to project specifications and company procedures. Daily tasks include checking equipment condition, performing basic maintenance, monitoring pressure and line levels, and coordinating with site engineers and crew members to ensure accurate tunnel alignment and pipe installation. The role involves recording operational parameters, identifying and reporting mechanical or geological issues, and adhering to all safety, environmental, and quality guidelines. The operator also supports site preparation, assists in troubleshooting equipment faults, and ensures work areas are kept organized and compliant with regulatory and company standards.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience operating micro tunneling or similar trenchless technology equipment, with strong understanding of machine controls and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, alignment data, and project specifications related to underground pipeline installation.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical maintenance, fault identification, and coordination with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability.
- Strong awareness of safety practices, including working in confined spaces, adherence to site safety protocols, and use of personal protective equipment.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills for coordinating with engineers, surveyors, and site crew in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Previous experience in underground construction, pipeline installation, or tunneling projects in Saudi Arabia or GCC is preferred.
- Willingness to work in field conditions, including extended hours as required by project schedules.
- Relevant technical diploma or vocational training in mechanical, civil, or construction fields is an advantage.
