1. JOB DETAILS

Job Title: Cold Mill Operation Planner

2. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE

The Cold Mill Operation Planner ensures that production schedules for the department’s resources and input materials are built according to predefined scheduling rules. The planner guarantees that production starts before the latest start date and schedules are developed in a timely manner. Responsibilities also include planning and arranging operational consumables and services for the Cold Mill area. Additionally, this role involves training and coaching employees in Ma’aden Business System (MBS) principles, ensuring their effective implementation to achieve business results.

4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Safety, Health, and Environment

• Comply with all Ma’aden safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Ensure materials planning adheres to Ma’aden procurement rules.
• Follow all PPE requirements while visiting areas or inspecting materials.
• Utilize MBS tools to suggest, lead, and implement safety and environmental improvements.

Performance Indicators: Department EHS KPIs

Software Utilization

• Use Oracle, Manufacturing Excellence System (MES), and other relevant systems to meet job requirements and generate reports.
• Maintain daily and weekly status reports.

Production Planning

• Develop production schedules based on defined rules, ensuring timely completion before the latest start date.
• Enforce lock-in periods for schedules unless production requests changes via approved change requests.
• Address schedule deviations with corrective actions and follow-up measures.
• Prepare for and attend daily and weekly planning and production meetings, identifying and resolving delivery misses and other issues.
• Interface with logistics, quality, customer centers, and other departments to address short lead times, trials, qualifications, and inventory corrections.

Performance Indicators:

• Backlog management.
• No metal downtime.
• Delivery performance and schedule attainment.

Quality Compliance

• Review open orders to establish priorities, identify overloads, and verify due dates.
• Maintain records to comply with regulatory standards, including ISO requirements.
• Submit periodic reports on pending orders and consumable statuses to the Tandem Cold Mill Manager.

Performance Indicators:

• No NCRs from ISO audits.

General Responsibilities

• Ensure timely availability of operational consumables and coordinate their storage and distribution.
• Maintain updated stock levels and coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Support Ma’aden Business System (MBS) implementation and training.
• Conduct and audit MBS tools such as A3 planning, TPM, and Daily Management Boards.
• Identify improvement opportunities and support problem-solving initiatives.

Performance Indicators:

• On-time schedules.
• No delays in consumables or operations.

5. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

• Internal:
• Production Area Managers - Departmental interaction and supervision.
• Operations Planning and MBS Manager - Collaboration on planning and improvements.
• Logistics Planning Coordinator - Coordination of supplies and issue resolution.
• Customer Center Liaisons - Handling short lead times and delivery issues.
• Production Crew Leaders, Technicians, and Quality Metallurgists - Problem-solving and trials coordination.
• External:
• Suppliers - Coordination for timely delivery of materials.

Communication Methods:

• Face-to-face interactions, facilitation of workshops and meetings, and preparation of MBS-related presentations.

6. JOB RELEVANT INFORMATION

• Maintain and update production schedules and rules.
• Ensure timely availability of operational consumables.
• Align scope of activities with relevant managers and departments.
• Lead improvement projects as required.

7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive planning experience.
• At least 3 years in production planning, with a focus on rolling mills or related industries.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and tools.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Oracle and Advanced Supply Chain Planning software.
• Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
