The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing technical materials, equipment, and services required for projects and operations. The role involves close coordination with engineering, project, and finance teams to ensure cost-effective procurement while meeting technical specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities (BOQs) to identify procurement requirements.
- Source and evaluate suppliers and vendors based on technical compliance, quality, cost, and delivery capability.
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Perform technical and commercial comparison of offers and participate in bid evaluations.
- Negotiate prices, delivery terms, and contract conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare purchase orders and follow up on order confirmation, manufacturing, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with engineering and quality teams to ensure materials meet project specifications and standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement-related issues or delays.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and documentation.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).
- Proven experience as a Procurement Engineer or in a similar procurement/technical purchasing role.
- Strong understanding of engineering materials, equipment, and technical specifications.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze technical and commercial data effectively.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good command of English (written and spoken).
