Job Purpose

The Senior Manager – Software Development is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing end-to-end software development activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality digital products and services that support business objectives. The role provides strong technical and people leadership, manages internal and vendor development teams, and ensures adherence to engineering standards, timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks.

Key Accountabilities

1. Strategy, Policy & Governance

Contribute to the overall Digital Transformation and application delivery strategy in alignment with organizational goals.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve software engineering processes, standards, and methodologies to enhance efficiency, quality, and innovation.

Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, quality, and governance frameworks.

2. Planning, Delivery & Execution

Plan, manage, and control software development initiatives from requirements through delivery, release, and post-production support.

Own delivery timelines, scope, resourcing, and dependencies across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Monitor project progress, conduct regular status reviews, proactively manage risks, and implement corrective actions when required.

Ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery of software solutions.

3. Technical Leadership

Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development teams, ensuring adoption of best practices, scalable designs, and modern engineering approaches.

Guide solution design decisions while balancing technical constraints, security, performance, and business needs.

Support resolution of complex technical issues and remove delivery blockers to ensure smooth sprint execution and product releases.

Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to cross-function teams.

4. Team & Resource Management

Lead, mentor, and manage software development teams, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and staffing to optimize utilization and delivery outcomes.

Conduct performance evaluations, provide structured feedback, and support professional development and capability building.

5. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Manage joint development initiatives with third-party vendors and outsourced development partners.

Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Product, Operations, Airport Systems, OCC, and IT Support teams to ensure alignment and integration.

Maintain effective communication with business stakeholders to understand needs, gather feedback, and continuously improve delivery outcomes.

6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

Lead continuous improvement initiatives by identifying root causes of issues and implementing sustainable solutions.

Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and engineering practices, recommending adoption where value is demonstrated.

Key Technologies & Tools

Application development platforms and enterprise systems

CI/CD and source control tools (e.g., Azure DevOps – mandatory)

Cloud and integration technologies

Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.

Professional Experience

10–12 years of overall experience in IT and software development, including people and delivery management.

Proven experience managing enterprise-scale software development teams and vendors.

Aviation industry experience (minimum 5 years) is strongly preferred.

Certifications

Relevant technical or IT management certifications are desirable.
