Job Purpose:

Promote, maintain, and improve individual and community health by developing and delivering patient education programs that support healthy lifestyles. The role focuses on identifying patient and community educational needs, planning and implementing targeted health education initiatives, and supporting patients and their families through effective educational materials and group education sessions tailored to their level of understanding.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:  

• Develops, implements, and evaluates health education programs tailored to the needs of diverse patient populations within the Fakeeh Healthcare facility and surrounding community.
• Fully articulates all benefits of modified lifestyle according to patient disease and the risks of non-complaint.
• Recognizes all barriers to successful education and develops strategies to overcome barriers.
• Creates and distributes educational materials, including brochures, pamphlets, and multimedia presentations, to effectively communicate health information.
• Educates both inpatients & outpatients and liaises with the treating physician to resolve barriers and development of the individual educational plan.
• Conduct assessments to identify health education needs for the referred patients and design targeted interventions to address those needs.
• Collaborates with healthcare providers and community groups to determine the health needs of the patients and community and to integrate health education into patient care plans and support the transition from treatment to self-management.
• Facilitates group workshops, seminars, and individual counseling sessions to educate patients on topics such as disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and medication management.
• Educate patients regarding their medical equipment, medication administration; how to monitor vital signs and the indications of need to seek medical attention, any needed instruction on patient’s health, safety and treatment.
• Prepares monthly reports of all activities including the number patients visited inpatient and outpatient, educational sessions held and reports to line manager.
• Maintains accurate records of program activities, participant engagement, and outcomes to assess the effectiveness of health education efforts.
• Stay abreast of current health trends, research, and best practices to ensure the delivery of accurate and up-to-date information.
• Work closely with community partners, schools, and local organizations to promote health education initiatives and participate in outreach events.
• Collaborate with the Health Educators within Fakeeh Care Group and other departments to integrate health education into various services and ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of the job.
  
  

Skills and Abilities:

• Basic computer literacy with the ability to use documentation and reporting tools.
• Effective communication and presentation skills to deliver health education to individuals and groups.
• Ability to develop and explain health education materials in a clear and patient-centered manner.
• Good interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to organize educational activities and manage multiple sessions effectively.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing or a healthcare profession.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related profession.

Language:

• Excellent command of oral and written English and Arabic.

Licenses / Certifications:

• License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority (e.g., SCFHS / DHA), BLS, and other Life Support Training Center (LSTC) courses as applicable.
