Job Purpose

The Senior Performance Testing Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, executing, and governing performance testing activities to ensure the scalability, availability, reliability, and responsiveness of enterprise applications and digital platforms. The role provides technical leadership in performance engineering practices, identifies performance bottlenecks, performs root cause analysis, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize application and infrastructure performance in support of business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the planning, design, and execution of performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity testing initiatives.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize automated performance test scripts using industry-standard testing tools.
• Define performance testing strategies, workload models, performance metrics, and acceptance criteria based on business and technical requirements.
• Analyze application, database, network, and infrastructure performance to identify bottlenecks and recommend optimization opportunities.
• Collaborate with Development, Architecture, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Quality Assurance teams to ensure performance requirements are incorporated throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Monitor application performance using Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and observability tools.
• Conduct root cause analysis for performance-related issues and provide actionable recommendations for remediation.
• Design and implement performance test environments, test data strategies, and monitoring frameworks.
• Integrate performance testing activities into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps delivery processes.
• Prepare and present performance testing reports, dashboards, findings, risks, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
• Establish performance testing standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices across projects.
• Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on performance engineering methodologies and tools.
• Ensure compliance with organizational governance, quality assurance standards, and information security requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related.
• ISTQB Performance Testing Certification.
• Professional certifications in Performance Engineering, Cloud Technologies, DevOps, or Quality Assurance.

Minimum Experience

• +5 years of experience in Performance Testing, Performance Engineering, or Quality Assurance.
• Hands-on experience designing and executing load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing initiatives.
• Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.

Job-Specific Skills

• Performance Testing and Performance Engineering methodologies.
• JMeter, LoadRunner, NeoLoad, Gatling, or similar performance testing tools.
• Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Dynatrace, AppDynamics, New Relic, or equivalent.
• Log analysis and monitoring tools including Splunk, Elastic Stack, Grafana, and Kibana.
• REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS protocols, Web Services, and distributed system architectures.
• Database performance analysis and optimization (SQL and NoSQL databases).
• Scripting and automation using Java, Groovy, Python, Shell, or similar languages.
• Cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or equivalent.
• Performance tuning, capacity planning, benchmarking, and root cause analysis.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and reporting skills.
• Ability to mentor team members and drive performance engineering best practices.
