About the Role

The job holder is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive health, safety, and environmental management framework that ensures regulatory compliance, enhances the well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors, and drives continuous improvement in operational practices across KSIADC.

Key Responsibilities :

Health, Safety and Environmental

• Assess current health, safety, and environmental practices across KSIADC’s operations to identify gaps and areas for improvement ensuring continuous alignment of practices with regulatory standards and best industry practices
• Conduct benchmarking research to analyze trending and best practices in health, safety, and environmental management, ensuring alignment with international and regulatory standards to identify opportunities for improvements and implement best practices across the organization
• Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies, processes, and procedures to provide clear guidance on operational compliance to ensure a safe and sustainable environment for employees, contractors, and visitors, in line with KSIADC’s long-term objectives
• Establish and maintain management frameworks for health, safety, and environmental initiatives, defining roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for all projects to ensure accountability, and efficient execution of initiatives meeting KSIADC’s health, safety, and environmental goals
• Develop detailed plans for safety, environmental, and health initiatives, prioritizing resources, timelines, and project feasibility based on impact and risk assessments, reducing risks and maximizing operational effectiveness
• Implement preventive measures to safeguard employee and guest health, including protocols for accident prevention, medical check-ups, and emergency response to ensure a proactive approach to health and safety, minimizing risks and promoting well-being within KSIADC’s workforce
• Conduct regular safety audits, site inspections, and risk assessments to verify compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement, ensuring all standards are met and continuously improved upon
• Monitor health, safety, and environmental data, tracking performance against established KPIs and benchmarks to ensure progress is aligned with strategic objectives, enabling informed decision-making and timely corrective actions
• Provide health and safety training programs for employees, contractors, and service providers, covering accident prevention, emergency response, and first aid preparedness to enhance awareness, minimizing incidents and fostering a safety-conscious workplace
• Implement a robust environmental management system, including real-time data tracking and compliance monitoring to ensure environmental standards are adhered to and environmental impacts are minimized across KSIADC’s operations
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize resource allocation, ensuring alignment with environmental, safety, and health objectives to support the successful execution of key initiatives and foster collaboration across departments
• Ensure regular inspection and maintenance of safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and first-aid kits, to comply with health and safety regulations to mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure a secure working environment for all stakeholders
• Oversee the safe disposal of hazardous materials and ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental laws and regulations to prevent environmental contamination, safeguard health, and maintain regulatory compliance
• Monitor and address discrepancies in health, safety, and environmental performance, conducting corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure operations remain compliant, safe, and environmentally responsible at all times
• Develop and implement a reporting system for health, safety, and environmental incidents, safety concerns, and near misses, ensuring transparency and timely corrective actions to foster a culture of accountability and safety, mitigating risks and improving operational standards

Policies, Processes and Procedures

• Follow all relevant policies, processes and standard operating procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
• Help in solving escalated problems and provide needed support for junior team to ensure work is carried out in an efficient manner
• Escalate complex problems to the relevant person to ensure cases/issues are closed properly

People Management

• Train junior staff on the different job activities to ensure transfer of know-how, when applicable
• Support junior staff or direct reports in order to execute their duties according to set policies and processes

Education

• Master’s degree in similar role or equivalent is preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in similar role or equivalent is required

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in similar role or equivalent
