About the Role
The job holder is responsible for driving KSIADC’s environmental transformation through managing the assessment, planning, execution, and continuous improvement of environmental initiatives, fostering innovation, ensuring compliance, and aligning KSIADC operations with regulatory and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
- Contribute to the development of HSSE business plan ensuring alignment with KSIADC strategy
- Develop the operational plan for the Environmental in line with HSSE business plan and Sustainability and HSSE strategic plan
- Implement plans and provide input to enable achievement of Environmental goals that support KSIADC’S overall strategic plans
Budget Management
- Discuss Environmental budgeting requirements with top management and provide input to the budgeting process
- Ensure effective utilization of Environmental budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
- Ensure effective utilization of the Environmental budget and report accurately any deviations from set budget
Environmental Management
- Initiate and manage environmental assessments to evaluate the current state of compliance, resource use, and environmental risks across all KSIADC functions and projects
- Conduct detailed reviews of industry benchmarks and emerging trends to guide the design of environmental policies tailored to KSIADC’s objectives and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate baseline data collection and analyses to create reliable benchmarks for energy use, emissions levels, and waste generation patterns
- Manage the development of an environmental action plan with clear timelines, responsibilities, and resource allocation for key initiatives
- Identify and evaluate high-priority projects, including waste management, emissions reduction, and resource conservation, to drive impactful improvements
- Guide the design of real-time monitoring systems for tracking environmental data, ensuring accurate reporting and operational alignment with goals
- Develop detailed mitigation plans for identified environmental risks, ensuring that projects meet compliance standards without delays
- Lead workshops and awareness programs for KSIADC employees to foster knowledge sharing and adherence to sustainability principles
Implementation and Monitoring
- Facilitate the integration of environmental plans and initiatives into project design and delivery by collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Oversee the execution of waste management strategies, ensuring proper recycling, safe disposal, and compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Organize regular site visits and inspections to monitor adherence to environmental policies across construction sites, airport operations, and facilities
- Track and report performance metrics for environmental initiatives, including energy efficiency improvements and waste reduction targets
- Supervise the implementation of environmental management system (EMS) protocols to align daily operations with overarching environmental objectives
- Evaluate the environmental implications of operational and development decisions, providing actionable recommendations for improvement
- Support operational teams by providing technical expertise during the implementation of environmental improvement measures
- Manage the delivery of comprehensive environmental reports to leadership, summarizing key achievements, risks, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Policies, Processes and Procedures
- Lead the design and implementation of Environmental policies and procedures covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high impact and achieving results effectively and efficiently
- Stay abreast of best practices to enable continuous improvement of systems, processes, and policies related to Environmental
- Remain abreast of HSSE leading practice and new trends, and identify recommendations for corrective measures, updates and improvements where required
- Stakeholder Management
- Establish working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Collect feedback from stakeholders on issues being faced and other requirements in order to identify barriers and develop action plans
- Actively gain exposure and insights to local market development, business opportunities and the existing regulatory landscape
- Attend related forums, seminars, etc. to enrich network and learn about the latest developments and opportunities
People Management
- Participate in the identification and recruitment of key talent
- Guide, mentor and support direct reports in order to execute duties according to set policies and processes
- Develop individual performance objectives, provide necessary support, evaluate/appraise team and provide regular feedback on performance
- Establish a high-performance working environment and promote KSIADC values
Education
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent is required
- A Master’s Degree in Environmental Management, Occupational Health or equivalent is preferred
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in similar role or equivalent with at least 4 years of experience in a managerial position
