Process Control Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Process Control Engineer to support the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process control systems used across production machinery.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of PLC systems, particularly Siemens, instrumentation, AC/DC drives, sensors, control systems, and industrial automation, along with the ability to investigate hardware and logic-related faults and support process modifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with control systems used on production machinery and investigate hardware and logic-related process faults.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot programmable logic control (PLC) systems, particularly Siemens-based systems.
• Work with proprietary control software and industrial automation systems.
• Specify electronic process devices, displays, control cabinets, transducers, and related components.
• Maintain and update APC system information, documentation, and equipment libraries.
• Analyze requirements and prepare detailed designs for machinery control and electrical components.
• Work with motors and controls, including AC/DC drives, sensors, instrumentation, PLC control systems, and specialized control applications.
• Support systems involving push-button stations, PLCs, AC/DC drives, LV controls, and related automation equipment.
• Ensure that applicable safety standards, norms, and guidelines are followed.
• Supervise, monitor, instruct, and train APC staff and contractors as required.
• Coordinate and delegate technical tasks within the department based on team competencies and project requirements.
• Prepare contracts and purchase requirements related to engineering projects.
• Estimate project timelines and monitor project progress and costs.
• Prepare project reports and technical documentation as required.
• Ensure installation documentation is properly recorded and supported by contractor and manufacturer reference data.
• Support production machinery breakdowns when engineering input is required.
• Maintain up-to-date technical literature and relevant industry standards within the APC function.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university or technical institution.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design, specification, and installation-related activities.
• Minimum 3 years of training and experience as a tradesman in areas such as electrical installations, electrical maintenance, electrical machinery repair/manufacturing, or applied process control.
• Strong practical knowledge of PLC systems, preferably Siemens.
• Experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, sensors, drives, and control systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and process control systems.
• Good understanding of engineering design, specifications, installation, and maintenance.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work with production, engineering, contractors, and other technical teams.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
