Project Overview
The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.
The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah - Riyadh highway.
Job Summary
In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.
Major Responsibilities
Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff within the area of responsibility.
Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders’ involvement.
Planning
- Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
- Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
Safety / Quality
- Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
- Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
Technical
- Supports Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
- Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
- Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.
Education And Experience Requirements
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge And Skills
- Lead and supervise tank construction activities, including site-erected carbon steel tanks, API storage tanks, Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) tanks, thickener tanks, and shop-fabricated tank installations, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality execution.
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors, direct-hire workforce, foremen, and craft professionals involved in tank erection, welding, mechanical completion, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all tank construction works are executed in accordance with approved engineering drawings, vendor requirements, project specifications, API standards, applicable codes, tolerances, and client requirements.
- Review and interpret engineering, vendor, and technical documentation, providing construction support and resolving field-related technical and constructability issues.
- Coordinate tank erection activities including plate fit-up, shell and roof assembly, structural attachments, internal installations, nozzles, piping interfaces, and associated mechanical works.
- Oversee welding activities and ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), project quality requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Coordinate and monitor all Non-Destructive Examination (NDE/NDT) activities including VT, MT, PT, UT, PAUT, and RT as applicable, ensuring timely completion and compliance with project requirements.
- Manage hydrostatic testing, leak testing, settlement monitoring, cleaning, preservation, and final acceptance activities for tanks and thickeners.
- Coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, and erection activities associated with tank construction, ensuring compliance with approved lift plans, rigging studies, crane capacities, critical lift requirements, and project safety procedures.
- Drive tank construction utilizing Work Packaging principles, planning work by systems and test boundaries while proactively managing constraints and work-front availability.
- Coordinate with Construction Field Engineers, Quality, Safety, Engineering, Procurement, and Project Controls teams to maintain compliance with project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor short-term construction plans, including 3-week look-ahead schedules, manpower forecasts, equipment requirements, and work-front availability.
- Ensure implementation of project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) requirements, Safety Management Plans, and company core construction processes.
- Oversee the planning and utilization of construction tools, welding equipment, testing equipment, cranes, and consumables required for tank construction activities.
- Conduct regular field inspections to monitor work progress, safety compliance, welding quality, testing readiness, workforce productivity, and overall construction performance.
- Support project reporting requirements by maintaining accurate records of construction progress, welding status, NDT completion, hydrotest activities, manpower utilization, and field issues.
- Ability to perform extensive field inspections within active construction environments.
- Capable of walking long distances, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working at heights, and accessing confined spaces as required for tank inspection and construction activities.
- Ability to work in hot and humid climatic conditions typical of Middle East construction projects.
- Must be capable of using all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) associated with assigned construction activities
