Job Purpose

To manage and oversee solution architecture activities by translating approved product and business requirements into scalable, secure, and technically feasible solution designs. The role ensures alignment with Masdr’s architecture standards, product strategy, platform capabilities, security requirements, and delivery objectives, while supporting effective technical requirements definition, architecture governance, and solution readiness throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Accountabilities:

Generic Accountabilities

Strategy Development, Planning and/or Contribution

• Ensure effective cascading of the departmental strategy into sectional business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departmental strategies.

People Management

• Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the section by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximize sectional performance.
• Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned section, collaborating with divisional experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.

Budgeting and Financial Performance

• Manage the preparation and recommend the sectional budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

• Manage and ensure effective implementation of xx (departmental NOT Sectional) departmental policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned sectional activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements, fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.

Change Management

• Lead the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Reporting

• Ensure that all sectional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet Masdr requirements, policies and quality standards.

Job-Specific Accountabilities

Solution Architecture & Architecture Strategy

• Define target-state and transition architectures, technology roadmaps, modernization priorities and architecture principles.
• Assess application disposition, dependencies, technical debt, lifecycle, strategic technologies and reuse opportunities.
• Manage the development of end-to-end solution architecture concepts based on approved product and business requirements.
• Lead and oversee the translation business and product needs into high-level solution structures, components, integrations, data flows, and service interactions.
• Ensure solution designs are scalable, modular, secure, and aligned with Masdr’s enterprise and platform architecture standards.
• Validate proposed solutions against customer needs, technical feasibility, delivery constraints, and operational requirements.
• Ensure solution architecture outputs are complete, documented, and ready to support downstream engineering and delivery activities.
• Support technical discussions with business, product, engineering, and external partners to clarify solution scope, assumptions, and dependencies.

Technical Requirements & Architecture Governance

• Lead Architecture design workshops, decisions, exceptions, technical risk acceptance, standards compliance and architecture assurance.
• Ensure definition and adoption of reference architectures, reusable patterns, secure coding/design standards, quality gates and engineering guardrails.
• Oversee the translation of approved solution concepts into clear functional and non-functional technical requirements.
• Ensure technical requirements address integration, performance, security, availability, scalability, and compliance requirements.
• Review solution architecture deliverables to ensure adherence to approved architecture standards, templates, guardrails, and governance requirements.
• Lead cross-functional architecture validation with Product, Technology, Cybersecurity, Platform Architecture, and Delivery stakeholders.
• Ensure traceability between approved requirements, solution designs, and delivery outputs throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Assess the architectural impact of scope or requirement changes and provide recommendations on technical implications.

Solution Readiness & Delivery Support

• Drive modernization, GOSI separation, cloud migration, platform simplification and reduction of legacy dependencies.
• Identify and address architecture-related dependencies, design gaps, and technical risks that may affect delivery.
• Support delivery teams in resolving solution architecture issues and clarifying approved technical designs during implementation.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure solutions remain aligned with approved scope, architecture principles, and technical requirements.
• Lead architecture reviews and contribute to stage-gate assessments and solution review activities by providing required architecture documentation and technical assessments.
• Monitor architecture-related actions and dependencies and escalate material risks or deviations to relevant stakeholders.

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Manage and guide the Solutions Architecture team in delivering consistent and high-quality architecture outputs.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members and promote consistent application of architecture standards and practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Platform Architecture, Cybersecurity, Delivery, and business stakeholders to support effective solution design and execution.
• Support capability development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the Solutions Architecture function.
• Prepare and maintain relevant architecture reports, documentation, and management updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management within the department.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in Solution Architecture, Cloud Architecture, or related technologies are preferred.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience software engineering, solution architecture, or enterprise technology, including at least 3 years as a Solution Architect and 2+ years in a leadership role.
