Job Summary

The Laboratory Specialist is responsible for all aspects of the labs. This involves performing research duties, routine duties, order lab items and maintain lab supplies, supervising students who are using lab equipment, training, and handling all aspects of the equipment and follow up with suppliers for maintenance, helping in delivering lab experiments, implementing lab safety policies and procedures, and handling all administrative aspects of the labs.

• Supervises students while working in the laboratories and take care of laboratory development and operations.
• Keeps labs supplies ready by inventory stock, placing orders and providing receipts.
• Maintains the equipment's operation by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
• Documents information by maintaining logs and equipment record books.
• Provides guidance to teaching staff and students on how to use the lab in an appropriate and safe manner.
• Runs lab sessions and experiments in the lab.
• Stays current in subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conference, or workshops.
• Implements lab safety policies and procedures.
• Conducts regular self-inspections of their areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and to familiarize new staff with the location of safety equipment.
• Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and students for advisement and consultation.

• Performs research experiments assigned by lab head.
• Writes research articles related to lab work.
• Handles all administrative aspects of the labs.
• Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
• Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Biomedical Science, pharmacy, or related field from accredited institute. Master Degree is preferable
• Minimum of five (05) years of experience of Research in academia or research institute. For master degree three (03) year experience
