Overview:

The Linux Systems Expert will be responsible for engineering, administering, securing, and optimizing Linux platforms running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The Expert will own platform reliability, OS lifecycle management, automation at scale, and enterprise compliance. The role spans RHEL/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu administration, Kubernetes (OKE/GKE), Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Ansible), observability, and SRE practices- ensuring resilient, compliant, and cost-efficient operations for mission-critical workloads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and harden RHEL, Oracle Linux, and Ubuntu across OCI & GCP.
• Implement OS lifecycle management including golden images, patching, kernel updates, and CVE remediation.
• Design and maintain OS build pipelines using Packer, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Manage filesystems, LVM, bootloaders, system, and package managers.
• Engineer secure VCN/VPC networks, load balancers, NAT, DNS, and bastion architectures.
• Operate compute, block/object storage, snapshots, and backup/restore strategies.
• Integrate with OCI IAM and GCP IAM, enforcing RBAC and least privilege.
• Administer Kubernetes clusters (OKE/GKE), node pools, autoscaling, and OS image upgrades.
• Ensure container runtime security, pod security, image scanning, and secrets management.
• Build and maintain Terraform IaC modules for OCI and GCP provisioning.
• Use Ansible for configuration management, compliance enforcement, and automation.
• Develop CI/CD automation for OS and infrastructure deployments.
• Implement security controls such as KMS/CMEK, SELinux/AppArmor, audit logging, and encryption.
• Configure monitoring, logging, dashboards, alerts, and incident runbooks.
• Support SRE practices including SLO definition, RCA, and automated remediation.
• Document standards, patterns, runbooks, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• Preferred to have professional certifications such as: RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), Oracle Linux Professional Certification, OCI Architect Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or DevOps Engineer, CKA/CKAD (Kubernetes) and HashiCorp Terraform Associate.

Experience:

• 8-12 years of experience in Linux administration experience (RHEL/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu) with at least 5 years of experience in OCI and GCP cloud environments.
• Expertise in Terraform and Ansible automation frameworks.
• Strong Kubernetes (OKE/GKE) operational experience.
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring, logging, and incident management

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in Bash and Python for scripting and automation.
• Deep understanding of networking, DNS, TLS, routing, and load balancing
