Senior Engineering Manager (Automation)

The Opportunity

The Senior Engineering Manager - Automation will ensure the full operational availability of all automation, controls, and industrial digital systems across the Dairy Division by implementing a robust Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) framework. The role safeguards the reliability, safety, and efficiency of automated assets through proactive maintenance, continuous improvement, and strict adherence to engineering, quality, and cost standards.

The Automation Engineering function supports Production, Utilities, Filling & Packaging, and Process departments by providing specialist technical expertise, ensuring system integrity, and enabling uninterrupted operations.

Qualifications:

• HND/HNC in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, or Mechatronics Engineering (UK standard or equivalent).
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Automation or Engineering leadership role within a manufacturing environment-preferably food or dairy processing.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • PLC logic development & troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.)
  • SCADA/HMI systems, industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus)
  • Instrumentation & control systems, electrical panels, safety relays, and interlocks
  • Research, design, and development of automated equipment and process control systems
  • Managing multi-skilled technical teams in a high-speed FMCG or dairy plant
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Automation and Control Engineering
  • PLC/SCADA/HMI Systems
  • Electrical and mechanical interfaces
  • Instrumentation and calibration
  • Engineering drawings (P&ID, electrical schematics, control diagrams
  • Equipment selection and design
  • Industrial utilities

This role ensures that all automated assets and control systems in the Almarai Dairy Engineering Unit operate at peak performance, enabling reliable production, compliance, and continuous improvement. The role blends technical depth, leadership, and operational excellence, supporting the success of Dairy Operations through world-class automation engineering
