About the opportunity

Successful electrical delivery depends on sound technical decisions, safe execution, and close coordination across disciplines. Chessboard is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee the implementation, testing, and handover of electrical systems on an engineering project in Saudi Arabia. From reviewing drawings and technical submissions to supervising site activities and resolving installation challenges, you will play a central role in achieving quality and commissioning readiness. This is a 12-month assignment at a remote site for an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex field work and leading teams to deliver.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.

• Review electrical drawings, technical specifications, material take-offs (MTOs) and technical submittals.

• Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and Testing & Commissioning teams.

• Supervise electrical installation works and ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.

• Monitor work progress and resolve technical issues and on-site execution problems.

• Coordinate electrical inspections, testing, commissioning, and system handover.

• Review and approve technical documentation, method statements and inspection requests.

• Coordinate with the client, consultant, and subcontractors on electrical engineering and site matters.

• Lead the electrical team and ensure the timely completion of electrical works.

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.

• 9+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including 3+ years leading electrical site activities or engineering teams (preferred experience benchmark).

• Strong site-based electrical installation and commissioning experience on major projects.

• Experience reviewing drawings, submittals, method statements, and inspection documentation.

• Ability to lead technical teams and collaborate with QA/QC, HSE, construction, and T&C stakeholders.
