Job Summary
The Cans Mechanical Technician-2 is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of can manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal production efficiency and product quality.
Job Responsibilities
- Execute preventative and corrective maintenance on can manufacturing machinery, including presses, bodymakers, trimmers, flangers, neckers, seamers, and associated conveyor systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults and breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Perform adjustments, alignments, and calibrations of production equipment to maintain specified operational parameters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and maintenance activities.
- Replace defective parts, components, and assemblies, including bearings, gears, shafts, belts, and pneumatic/hydraulic components.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential issues and proactively address them.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
- Collaborate with production operators and other technicians to optimize machine performance and resolve production challenges.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanical technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the can making or packaging industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Experience with precision measurement tools and techniques.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures in an industrial setting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Relevant technical diploma or certification in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
