Summary
Oversees and manages daily operations of laboratory and radiation facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and ALARA regulations.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Establishes procedures and provides radiation protection services, including personnel dosimetry, instrument calibration, radiation surveys, radioactive waste disposal, and monitoring of the cyclotron, neutrongenerator, hot cells, laboratories, and gamma sterilization facility.
- Stays abreast of new technologies in field of expertise and examines the utility and feasibility of incorporating the same as per the Hospital's requirements
- Recognizes and communicates to personnel the consequences of errors in safety procedures.
- Ensures the availability of required equipment and raises specifications for any additional equipment required.
- Performs acceptance tests for special and routine quality control of Diagnostic Radiology x-ray units and associated equipment
- Participates in developing standard in operating procedures for pertaining to radiation protection.
- Provides training, develops standard operating procedures, and participates in research, quality improvement, and adoption of new technologies.
- Participates in preparation and review of manuscripts and research proposals.
- Participates in department/unit specific and Hospital wide quality improvement plan preferred.
- Follows all Hospital’s related Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in self and others' education, training and development, as applicable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Medical or Health Physics or related scientific discipline from a recognized institution is required
Experience Required
Six (6) years of related Medical or Health Physics experience with Ph.D., or nine (9) years with Master’s Degree is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
- Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Certificate ispreferable.
- NRRC Certificate in radiation safety or equivalent.
- Board Certification in Radiation Safety or equivalent is required.
