Principle Duties

• Is attentive to and follows clinical policy with regards to standard precaution.
• Processes all laboratory test requisitions and specimens quickly, efficiently and appropriately.
• Assists other laboratory personnel as workload permits without being requested to do so.
• Consistently determines proper priorities when organizing daily tasks and is able to adjust schedule in view of STAT’s, out-patient and time draws.
• Organizes work for effective utilization of time.
• Refers to appropriate policy and procedure manuals as necessary and communicates with references labs for proper specimen requirements.
• Utilizes supplies equipment in a non-wasteful manner.
• Accepts responsibility for and becomes available to work a different shift when workload and/or other conditions warrant.
• Continuously works at establishing a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with all co-workers.
• Recognizes and is able to effectively function within the Laboratory and Clinical organizational structure.
• Seeks assistance when necessary from the Chief laboratory supervisor or designee in solving technical or personnel problems.
• Shows ability to handle unexpected situations and is able to exercise independent thought and actions when necessary.
• Reports to work as scheduled.
• In neat in appearance, always observing the dress code as established.
• Always wears lab coat (or approved apron / gown) and name tag.
• Speech and conversation are of a quality acceptable to hospital code (confidentiality)
• Demonstrates loyalty and teamwork both in the laboratory and interdepartmentally.
• Receive samples in the lab according to laboratory policy (appropriate containers, labels, volume and identification).
• Matching the number and name of the send out tests with the lab orders and barcode in order with the inspection of scanning.
• Adequate sorting of in-house samples to different lab units.
• Adequate storing of send out samples according to the type of test.
• Counting the number of sent samples according to the send out sheet.
• Checking the test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• Daily monitoring the unit’s worklist.
• Maintain the unit’s files in an organized and complete manner.
• Communicating all related lab inquiries using official methods (emails)
• Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids, such as blood, urine on lab analysers.
• Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
• Compliance with laboratory policies & accreditation standards.
• Participating in the monthly QM meeting, presenting activities and metric outcomes to review and assess compliance, developing and implementing remedial activity plans, as needed, and activities for quality improvement, as assigned.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of materials, supplies and equipment.
• Maintain a continuous education of quality, safety & infection control.
• Work cooperatively in a team environment supporting each other.
• Performs any other tasks assigned from day to day by lab director or lab supervisor.

Education & Experience

• BS in Medical Technology from a recognized university. Master's degree in higher degrees, preferably.
• Four years or more of pertinent clinical laboratory experience subsequent to qualifying as a Medical Technologist.
• Valid Saudi Commission for Healthcare Specialties license as a Medical Technologies.
• Minimum 2 years of senior technologist experience in a clinical laboratory. Practical and hands-on experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Proficient practice in English Language
• Very good in Computer skill.
