Scope of Job:

To assist the Director of Finance in managing the department,

through planning, organizing, directing and controlling the accounting & finance and information systems policies and procedures, operation and administration.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preparation of financial statements, accruals and journal entries, maintain reconciliations for balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• To assist The Director of Finance with preparation of forecasts and budgets as required by corporate office or management.
• Responsible to prepare, in line with the authorized monthly close-down timetable, budget period closings, financial statements, cash flows, payroll and other reports that pertain to financial matters.
• To ensure the safe custody, control and proper disposal of Company monies, negotiable instruments, assets, stocks, records and statutory books of account
• Responsible for detailed reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Control Accounts, preparing a detailed pack of the reconciliations for month end closing.
• Maintaining the control systems and procedures over income, expenses and assets of the hotel.
• Ensure post-departure credit card credit allowances are performed only by accounting and all such allowances are reviewed and signed by Director of Finance and all “Unmatched Credits” reports provided by credit card processing company are reviewed/scrutinized monthly and retained by the Director of Finance.
• To oversee payroll functions, and ensure timely processing of all payroll,
• To coordinate and implement accounting SOP audits for all areas of the property.
• To review the cash position of the hotel on a daily basis in order to optimize the use of funds
• To ensure gains/losses on the sale/disposal of fixed assets are properly disclosed and recorded on the Statement of Changes in financial position and on the P&L statement.
• Responsible for safeguarding the hotel assets and financial resources contributing towards maximizing hotel profitability.
• To maintain capital expenditure spreadsheet, and ensure full compliance with internal controls.
• To monitor and control expenses of the hotel by reviewing the daily reporting done by the auditor of the hotel and addressing issues that not only have material effect, but also effect the guest experience.
• Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
• Responsible for presenting metrics and analytics in order to ensure departmental goals are met.
• Submits reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines.
• Conduct period audits on the accounting principles and SOP
