Job Purpose:
The Pellet Mill Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining pellet mill equipment to produce high-quality pellets that meet production and quality standards. The operator ensures efficient production, monitors process parameters, performs routine equipment inspections, and follows all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor pellet mill equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Start up, adjust, and shut down pellet mill systems safely and efficiently.
- Monitor production parameters, including temperature, pressure, moisture content, and pellet quality.
- Adjust machine settings to optimize pellet production and minimize waste.
- Inspect raw materials and finished products to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report any mechanical or operational issues.
- Conduct basic preventive maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments to equipment.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel for equipment repairs and planned maintenance activities.
- Record production data, equipment performance, downtime, and maintenance activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the production area.
- Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory monitoring of raw materials and production supplies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and product quality.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, technical certificate, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience operating pellet mills or similar industrial processing equipment is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to understand operating procedures and production documentation.
- Basic computer skills for recording production data.
