Job Title: Senior Engineer Infrastructure, Roads & Railway Earthworks

Location: Saudi Arabia

Sector: Railway Infrastructure, Heavy Civil & Highway Contracting

Job Summary Responsible for managing and executing heavy civil earthworks (deep cut and fill), railway trackbed preparation, and road networks. Ensures all earthmoving, sub-ballast/track formation, slope stability, and highway paving activities strictly adhere to approved specifications, railway corridor safety protocols, and client standards, particularly Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR).

Key Responsibilities

• Railway Formation & Earthworks (Cutting & Filling):
• Oversee bulk earthworks, deep rock and soil excavation, embankment construction, and high-standard compaction for railway alignments and road networks.
• Supervise trackbed preparation, including capping layers, sub-ballast placement, and formation level treatments per railway specifications.
• Manage slope stability, cut-slope protection (rockfall netting, shotcrete, berms), and cut-and-fill volume balancing (Mass Haul).
• Road Construction & Paving:
• Supervise the execution of road subgrade, aggregate base courses (ABC), asphalt binder, and wearing courses.
• Oversee the construction of access roads, level crossings, railway service roads, kerbstones, and road safety furniture.
• Railway Safety & SAR Procedures:
• Enforce strict railway safety measures and obtain work permits for operations within or adjacent to the Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) Right-of-Way (ROW).
• Coordinate with SAR supervisors and consultants for track protection, site inspections (WIRs/RFIs), and railway clearance verifications.
• Supervise the construction of structural crossings (railway overpasses/underpasses, culverts, and utility protection corridors).
• Surveying, Machinery & QA/QC Compliance:
• Verify alignments, cross-sections, and elevations with surveyors against approved IFC drawings and rail tolerances.
• Manage heavy earthmoving machinery fleets (excavators, graders, heavy compactors) to hit daily volume targets.
• Monitor soil compaction tests (Field Density, Plate Load Tests, CBR) to ensure compliance before authorizing successive layers.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Accredited by the Saudi Council of Engineers).
• Experience: 5 to 8+ years of field experience in heavy earthworks, railway formation/trackbed construction, and highway projects.
• Key Requirement: Proven track record on Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) projects or major freight/passenger rail corridors.
• Technical Skills:
• Solid command of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Excel for earthworks quantity tracking and alignment verification.
• In-depth understanding of geotechnical engineering, slope stabilization techniques, and international/SAR trackbed standards.
• Strong leadership in heavy machinery management and tight-tolerance earthworks execution.
