About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Integration & API Tester with strong expertise in IBM WebMethods to join our Quality Assurance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware services, and message flows, ensuring data integrity and reliability across internal and external systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Test enterprise integrations, APIs, and middleware services built on the IBM WebMethods platform
- Validate message flows, transformations, and routing logic across integration layers
- Perform API functional testing for both REST and SOAP services, verifying request/response accuracy against business requirements
- Validate data integrity across internal and external systems throughout integration and message exchange processes
- Test idempotency scenarios to ensure duplicate requests/messages are handled correctly without unintended side effects
- Design and execute test cases for retry and timeout scenarios, validating system behavior under failure and recovery conditions
- Perform end-to-end integration testing across multiple connected systems, ensuring seamless data flow and process continuity
- Use API automation tools (Postman, SoapUI, or similar) to build and execute automated test suites for regression and functional testing
- Validate error handling, exception scenarios, and logging/monitoring within middleware services
- Identify, log, and track defects through resolution, collaborating closely with integration developers and business teams
- Support performance and load-related observations for integration endpoints where applicable
- Prepare and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test data, and execution/defect reports
- Support regression testing for middleware upgrades, new integrations, and API version changes
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in software testing, with a strong focus on integration and API testing
- Hands-on experience with IBM WebMethods (Integration Server, Designer, or related components)
- Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, including request/response structures, headers, authentication methods, and status codes
- Practical experience in integration testing and validating middleware services and message flows
- Solid understanding of data validation techniques across distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with API automation tools such as Postman and/or SoapUI
- Experience testing idempotency, retry, and timeout scenarios in integration environments
- Practical experience with end-to-end testing across multi-system landscapes
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, HP ALM, Azure DevOps, or similar)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to trace issues across complex integration flows
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with integration, development, and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience working within a banking, financial services, or large enterprise environment
- Familiarity with messaging protocols/standards (JMS, MQ, XML, JSON, XSD/WSDL)
- Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., Groovy, JavaScript, or shell scripting) to support test automation
- ISTQB or equivalent software testing certification is a plus
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and integration testing within DevOps environments is an advantage
