Role Description the Child Psychiatry Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based at Al-Sobh Hospital in Jeddah. The consultant will provide diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care for children and adolescents, working closely with families and caregivers to support recovery and development. Daily responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and monitoring medications when indicated, delivering psychotherapeutic interventions, and coordinating care with psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals. The consultant will participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, contribute to the development of clinical protocols, and ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with hospital standards and applicable regulations. The role also involves educating families about mental health, promoting early intervention, and supporting hospital initiatives aimed at improving child and adolescent mental health services.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with completed residency in psychiatry and formal fellowship or specialization in child and adolescent psychiatry.
• Valid license to practice psychiatry in the relevant jurisdiction and eligibility for credentialing within hospital and national regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and treating a range of child and adolescent mental health conditions using evidence-based approaches.
• Strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, treatment planning, and risk management for children and adolescents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and to engage effectively with children, youth, and families.
• High level of cultural sensitivity, ethical practice, and commitment to non-discriminatory, patient-centered care.
• Ability to manage a structured caseload, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and adhere to quality and safety protocols.
• Experience in hospital or clinical settings is preferred; participation in teaching, supervision, or mental health advocacy is an advantage.
• Proficiency in relevant languages used in Jiddah’s patient community is beneficial, along with openness to ongoing professional development and training.
