About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Telecom Technician to support the daily maintenance and operational continuity of railway telecommunication systems on a main-line network. The selected candidate will handle routine inspections, fault identification, equipment replacement, and performance verification across field installations, technical rooms, and along the alignment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on railway telecom infrastructure, technical shelters, and station communications equipment.

Carry out corrective maintenance and emergency repair on field network equipment, radio base stations, and transmission nodes.

Maintain transmission systems (SDH / OTN / IP-MPLS), fiber optic cable plants, and copper networks along the line.

Inspect and troubleshoot operational wireless communications (GSM-R / TETRA), antenna systems, feeders, and power supplies (UPS / Chargers).

Support low-current station systems including Public Address (PA), Passenger Information Systems (PIS), CCTV, Master Clock, and Access Control.

Conduct OTDR measurement tests, fiber splicing, cable testing, and signal level verifications.

Document all maintenance interventions, track spare parts usage, and update CMMS work orders accurately.

Ensure full compliance with safety protocols, site access permits, and railway operational rules.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education: Technical Diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Networks, or Electrical Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience in telecommunications, with at least 2 years on railway or linear infrastructure projects.

Technical Knowledge:

Hands-on familiarity with fiber optic cable splicing, OTDR testing, and structured cabling.

Practical understanding of railway communication networks (GSM-R, TETRA, SDH, IP networks).

Ability to read system schematics, cable layout drawings, and network topology maps.

Language: Good working proficiency in English (written and spoken). Arabic is a plus.

Preferred Attributes

Experience in main-line or heavy-haul railway O&M environments in the Middle East.

Comfort working in outdoor trackside environments and remote technical shelters.

Strong team player with a problem-solving mindset and willingness to work shift schedules.
