About the Role

We are seeking qualified and compassionate individuals to join Assistlink as Community Support Workers.

Successful candidates will provide personalised, non-medical support to older people, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring additional assistance in their daily lives.

We particularly welcome applicants with academic qualifications in psychology, special education, behavioural therapy, and related health and social care disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualised support based on each client's needs and support plan.
• Assist individuals with appropriate daily living activities.
• Promote independence, confidence, and the development of everyday living skills.
• Support community participation, social engagement, and inclusion.
• Assist individuals with autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, or other support needs.
• Provide companionship and appropriate social support for older people.
• Support individuals in developing communication, organisational, and daily living skills.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, families, and the Assistlink team.
• Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional conduct requirements.
• Document support activities and report relevant observations.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must hold a relevant qualification in one of the following fields:

• Psychology
• Special Education
• Behavioural Therapy
• Social Work
• Occupational Therapy
• Rehabilitation Sciences
• Nursing

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant academic qualification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• A compassionate, professional, and person-centred approach.
• Ability to work with individuals from different age groups and with diverse support needs.
• Reliability, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality.
• Relevant experience supporting older people or people with disabilities is highly desirable.
• Professional registration or licensing where required.

Working Arrangements

Assistlink offers flexible working opportunities based on client requirements and the availability of suitable Support Workers.

Assignments may involve supporting clients in their homes, educational environments where authorised, or community settings.

Specific working arrangements, schedules, and remuneration will be discussed during recruitment and confirmed through the applicable contractual arrangements.

Important Information

All successful candidates will undertake the role of Support Worker, regardless of their original academic specialisation.

The position focuses on non-medical support. It does not include clinical diagnosis, psychological therapy, medical treatment, or other regulated professional services outside the authorised scope of the role.
