Responsibilities
Emergency Response Operations
- Respond to fire, rescue, hazardous materials (HazMat), medical emergencies, and other emergency incidents across surface and underground operations.
- Perform structural, industrial, vehicle, and wildland firefighting in accordance with approved procedures.
- Participate in underground mine emergency response, rescue, and evacuation operations.
- Provide emergency standby during high-risk activities, shutdowns, confined space work, and hot work.
- Maintain readiness for shift work, standby, and emergency callouts.
- Provide First Aid/Basic Life Support (BLS) until higher-level medical care is available.
Firefighting Equipment & Emergency Readiness - Conduct inspections of fire trucks, emergency Vehicles, rescue vehicles, firefighting equipment, SCBA, and rescue equipment.
- Operate fire trucks, fire pumps, foam systems, hose lines, monitors, and portable firefighting equipment.
- Ensure all firefighting and rescue equipment remains operational and ready for deployment.
- Report equipment defects and support preventive maintenance activities.
- Inspect, clean, test, and maintain PPE and SCBA.
- Restore vehicles and emergency equipment to operational readiness following incidents.
Fire Prevention & Safety - Conduct fire prevention inspections of buildings, workshops, warehouses, fuel facilities, and underground operations.
- Support inspection, testing, and maintenance of hydrants, hose reels, portable fire extinguishers, and fire protection systems.
- Identify fire hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Support fire impairment management and emergency planning activities.
- Participate in the Journey to Zero safety program.
- Identify and report hazards and support corrective actions.
Emergency Training & Preparedness - Participate in emergency drills, simulations, and practical firefighting exercises.
- Maintain competency in firefighting, rescue, SCBA, first aid, HazMat, and emergency response techniques.
- Assist in delivering fire safety awareness sessions to employees and contractors.
- Participate in emergency response planning and site familiarization.
- Participate in pre-incident planning.
Incident Reporting & Communication - Complete incident reports, equipment inspection records, and accurate training documentation on time.
- Maintain effective communication with Incident Command, Control Room, Security, Medical Team, and Operations.
- Follow Emergency Response Team Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Incident Command System (ICS) requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration .
- Work closely with Mining, Process Plant, Maintenance, Security, Medical, and other departments during emergency response operations.
- Support emergency response contractors and mutual aid agencies when required.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance emergency preparedness and operational readiness.
Qualification Requirements: - Diploma in Fire Science, Emergency Management, OHS or A related field.
- Firefighter I & II qualification or equivalent industrial firefighting certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current First Aid / Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Medically and physically fit to perform firefighting duties and wear SCBA.
- Fire Truck Driver/Operator qualification (preferred).
- HazMat Operations, Technical Rescue, or Underground Mine Rescue certification (preferred).
Experience and Skills Requirements: - Minimum two years' experience in industrial firefighting, emergency response, mining, oil & gas, or other high-risk industries.
- Experience operating fire trucks, firefighting pumps, rescue equipment, and SCBA.
- Knowledge of industrial fire protection systems and firefighting tactics.
- Experience participating in emergency drills and incident response.
- Knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments.
- Basic computer skills for reporting and inspection records.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; Arabic is an advantage.
- Underground mine emergency response experience (preferred).
- Experience operating ambulances, HazMat, or rescue vehicles.
- Experience supporting fire system inspection, testing, and commissioning .
