Position Summary

We are seeking highly skilled and certified 6G Pipe Welders with specialized expertise in welding high-alloy corrosion-resistant alloys, specifically Stainless Steel (SS), Duplex (DSS), and Super Duplex Stainless Steel (SDSS). The candidate must possess exceptional arc control and complete mastery of the 6G (fixed 45-degree angle) position to meet demanding non-destructive testing (NDT) standards (X-Ray/Radiographic testing).

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• High-Alloy Specialist Welding: Perform high-quality root-to-cap welding on pipes and components in the 6G position using GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (Stick) processes, ensuring zero defects under radiographic inspection.
• Metallurgical & Heat Control: Strictly manage heat inputs and interpass temperatures (keeping Duplex below 120°C and Super Duplex below 100°C) to maintain correct phase balance between austenite and ferrite, preventing microstructural embrittlement.
• Purging Management: Set up and maintain rigorous back-purging systems using High-Purity Argon or special gas mixtures to prevent root oxidation ("sugar-ing") during the welding of SS and Duplex systems.
• Joint Configuration & Assembly: Utilize the keyhole technique, handling wide joint preparations, precise root lands, and specific root gaps (2 to 4 mm) required to accommodate sluggish high-alloy molten puddles.
• WPS Compliance: Read, interpret, and execute jobs strictly following approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), isometric drawings, and specific material codes (such as ASME Section IX / AWS).
• Contamination Prevention: Maintain dedicated toolsets (stainless-only grinding disks and wire brushes) to completely avoid carbon steel cross-contamination on critical alloys.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

Certifications & Education

• Mandatory: Active or verifiable previous 6G performance qualification record (WPQR) specifically for Stainless Steel, Duplex, or Super Duplex materials.
• Education: Technical School Certificate, ITI Diploma in Welding Trades, or equivalent vocational training.

Experience

• Minimum 5 to 8 years of heavy industrial pipe welding experience, with at least 3 consecutive years focused directly on Stainless Steel and Duplex alloys in high-pressure oil/gas or refinery environments.

Technical Expertise & Skills

• Flawless execution of GTAW (TIG) for root/hot passes and SMAW (Stick) or GTAW for fill/cap runs on alloy materials.
• Deep understanding of high-alloy filler wires (e.g., using ER2209 for Duplex and ER2594 for Super Duplex).
• Competence in working inside tight tie-in locations, pipe racks, and localized environments while holding stable arc lengths.
• Functional understanding of basic English to comprehend verbal supervisor instructions and read technical project documents.
