We are looking for an experienced Mobile Engineering Technical Lead to lead the technical delivery and evolution of a large-scale digital application platform in Saudi Arabia.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining mobile engineering, backend integration, cloud/DevOps and team leadership. The successful candidate will take ownership of the platform from a technical perspective, guide engineering standards and architecture implementation, and remain actively involved in development, troubleshooting and delivery.

The role requires someone comfortable operating in a complex enterprise environment, working across engineering, architecture, security, cloud and product teams while maintaining a strong focus on quality, scalability and secure software delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Engineering & Technical Delivery

• Lead the end-to-end technical delivery and evolution of enterprise mobile applications across iOS and Android.
• Remain hands-on with development and technical problem-solving, supporting engineers on complex implementation challenges.
• Drive engineering standards, code quality, maintainability and platform scalability.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance across mobile and supporting backend services.
• Work closely with architecture teams to translate architectural decisions into practical engineering solutions.
• Resolve complex application, integration and production issues across the platform.

Platform Ownership & Transition

• Take technical ownership of application platforms, engineering assets and associated development environments.
• Coordinate technical handovers and platform transitions, including source-code repositories, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, monitoring and operational processes.
• Support application onboarding and migration into enterprise cloud environments.
• Ensure effective knowledge transfer, documentation and operational readiness throughout platform transitions.
• Establish clear engineering standards and ownership models for long-term platform sustainability.

Backend, APIs & Integration

• Oversee integration between mobile applications and supporting backend / BFF services.
• Work with REST APIs, microservices and enterprise integration patterns.
• Ensure reliable, secure and scalable communication between mobile applications and backend platforms.
• Collaborate with backend, cloud and architecture teams to resolve integration dependencies and technical bottlenecks.

Cloud, DevOps & Engineering Excellence

• Support cloud-based application environments across Azure and/or AWS.
• Drive effective CI/CD, deployment automation and DevOps practices.
• Improve release reliability, automation, observability and engineering efficiency.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring, logging and operational controls are incorporated into the platform.
• Support secure software-supply-chain practices throughout development and deployment.

Security & Quality

• Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns including OAuth2 and OpenID Connect.
• Support certificate management, secrets management, API security and access controls.
• Ensure alignment with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.
• Drive remediation of application vulnerabilities and security findings.
• Ensure appropriate automated testing, quality engineering and release-management practices.
• Maintain strong standards around application performance, reliability, security and scalability.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mobile and software engineers.
• Build engineering capability through coaching, onboarding, technical hiring and knowledge sharing.
• Establish and promote engineering standards, reusable practices and technical communities.
• Coordinate technical planning, releases, priorities and cross-team dependencies.
• Work closely with product, architecture, security and engineering stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with several years operating in a Technical Lead, Engineering Lead or similar senior technical capacity.
• Strong experience delivering and supporting enterprise-scale mobile applications.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android.
• Experience with Java / Spring Boot or similar backend technologies.
• Strong understanding of modern mobile architecture and application-design patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) architectures.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, deployment automation and DevOps practices.
• Experience working with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of application security including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, certificates, secrets management, encryption and access control.
• Experience with automated testing, observability, performance optimisation and production troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to lead engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
• Experience working across complex enterprise environments with multiple technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience managing application/platform transitions, source-code migrations or technical ownership handovers.
• Hands-on experience onboarding applications into new cloud environments.
• Exposure to IoT, connected products, real-time digital platforms or similarly complex technology ecosystems.
• Experience working in regulated or highly controlled enterprise environments.
• Previous experience building or scaling internal engineering capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong professional English communication skills.
• Proven experience balancing technical leadership with hands-on engineering delivery.
